Absolutely loved the character and charm of the hotel, the facilities, the lounge area for breakfast/evening drinks, ease of use of the washer/dryer that was there. The hotel was in a quiet residential section of Kyoto, yet access to Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and downtown Kyoto was very easy and within a 15 minute walk. Access to the train stations and Uber/Taxi's were equally easy. Amazing local restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel - highly recommend Daigan around the corner for an amazing sushi with an engaging/entertaining/welcoming chef.

beautiful street and location, from the street we had a great view of the Yasaka pagoda. They provided us umbrellas to use during our stay and were able to hold our luggage before check in and after check out as well. From our location we were a short <3 m walk away to multiple convenience stores and main road to catch taxis from.

Everything! I really can't find any faults with the experience. The lodging has so much cultural significance embedded in it. The space and beds are very comfortable. The garden is beautiful and calming. My favorite parts were: 1) the autofilling bathtub 2) the nightly tea and sweet and 3) the host (Shin). We had some plans when we came into Kyoto but this being our second visit to the city, we were open to adaption. Shin gave us some great recommendations you likely won't find in your Google searches. We found the recommendations to be some of our favorite spots we went to. Everything about this stay was wonderful and I highly recommend it.
