I’ve stayed at a few different cottages in the area whilst visiting family and this was my absolute favourite! It felt like a luxury holiday and will be sure to book again.

lovely old Inn with a stunning garden at the back. Olde Worlde en-suite room with lots of charming character. We enjoyed a Sunday roast and breakfast was exactly what we wanted. we had plenty of tea and coffee with fresh fruit, cereals and of course a full English breakfast. Smarden is quiet and very pretty - we enjoyed our stay very much. Parking is at the rear.

Staff were very attentive, and the food was great. The room was well decorated, and the bed was super comfy. We spent the afternoon in the sunshine drinking cider in the well maintained and beautiful garden overlooking the pond. In the evening, we ate a fabulous meal and had a lovely walk around the local area, which was full of chocolate box cottages, beautiful gardens, and a stunning church. All this was then topped off by a very peaceful and undisturbed sleep. Perfect.

Ancient hostelry with cosy facilities and good food. Friendly, rather overworked staff just managed to make everything work well, bless them.

The Inn was absolutely gorgeous, stunning, romantic, beautiful, it was quaint, with old beams, four poster bed, garden had a pond, it was all lit up in the evening, church bells ringing. Evening meal and breakfast perfect
