McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect...
McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting.
A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

Small and wonderful village!
Small and wonderful village! I was lucky to stop there for a night and amaze by the village. There’s few bar options, wonderful restaurants (I went to the Fat Lady’s arm after my guest house owner recommended and I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and they had different choices to pleased I believe everyone!)
The morning after I was lucky to catch the Saturday morning market. Fantastic!

McGregor is a very small
Community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is having to travel to Robertson should you require anything from the bigger shops but if you plan well there shouldn't be a need to travel.

We went specifically to visit the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary just outside McGregor. It was amazing. The property is pristine. There is a lovely restaurant, book shop and gift shop. A friendly, knowledgeable guide introduced us to the donkeys. They were beautiful, peaceful and very well cared for. Definitely worth a visit, also an opportunity to adopt one of these incredible animals and make a very worthwhile contribution to donkey welfare in general. We also enjoyed exploring the quaint little village of McGregor.
A Blissful Anniversary Retreat at 12 on Tindall
My husband and I celebrated our 8th anniversary at 12 on Tindall in McGregor, and it was absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere was enchanting, the accommodations were immaculate, and the breakfast was delicious. What truly made our stay special was the warm hospitality of the owner, who treated us with respect, kindness, and care. We're already looking forward to returning to 12 on Tindall in the future, hopefully for more than one night.
A hidden gem in McGregor. Sandra is a superb host. After a two-night stay I have already made another booking. That is how impressed I was. The space is tastefully decorated and has everything that you need. The property overlooks a nature reserve and sometimes you can hear the cows grazing there. The location is in a quiet street and in walking distance of the main road with its many restaurants. The private plunge pool is a bonus and I look forward to enjoy it on my next visit.
The bean tree is situated in the town, a 2min walking distance from everywhere you want to be. It has a lovely garden and is pet friendly as a bonus. The town offers all from cycling to hiking routes and then let's you enjoy lovely restaurants for breakfast and dining. - don't forget the whiskey bar either. Mc Gregor Wines and Lords also give you the option to visit a wine farm. All this and then you get to go to the bean tree to end your day in comfort & style.
Whipstock Farm is tranquil and positioned in a breathtaking location! 10km on a dirt road from the town of McGregor and next to Lord's Winery, you get a sense of space and peace while still having quick access to the beautiful town with no shortage of delicious food and heritage properties. The farm has beautiful walks, our host was so lovely and accommodating and our stay in the beautifully decorated Barn cottage was Cosy and comfortable. Can't wait to return!
Very quiet, peaceful location within easy walking distance of the main street in the village of McGregor. Safe off-street parking right outside our rooms. Comfortable, clean and very attractive bedrooms. Good bathroom facilities. So much attention has been paid to detail throughout the accommodation. The delicious breakfasts were beautifully presented and delivered to our rooms in baskets. Stacey is a very friendly, kind and helpful host.
We were only going to stay for 2 nights, and we decided to extend our stay with two more. The unit was excellent, just lovely hosts going out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible with loads of recommendations of where to eat and where to go. The unit has absolutely everything you need with extra coffee and rusks brought to us on the 3rd day. This will be my go-to place in McGregor from now on. Didn't want to leave!
Breakfast was great: fruit and yogurt followed by an English breakfast. The last day of my stay I had an omelette which was especially tasty. Breakfast is served with fresh juice and coffee. The property is located in a quiet part of town. I had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Mcgregor is a great little town with many good restaurants, friendly people and lots to do.
Our stay at Orchard Cottage felt very private. We loved the two bathrooms. Free wifi that was working.
The host did not hold back on coffee, sugar and tea supplies. The house had everything we needed and more for our self catering stay. We want to go back soon.
Will highly recommend Orchard Cottage.
A beautiful, peaceful, luxury farm experience with privacy and convenience to Mcgregor, superbly hosted by Manuela. Lovely touches with tea, coffee, milk, juice, local wine from the warm, as well as olives and olive oil. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
It's hard to top this place if you're visiting McGregor and surrounds for a weekend. Very comfy and spacious, and all the appliances you might need if planning a longer stay. Annatjie and Hennie were wonderful hosts.
Great value for money stay with friendly hosts. Mcgregor is a cool arty town with a lot of characters. Great resturants and pub. Very clean, and generous hosts with a full box of cookies :).
Beautifully furnished brand new self-contained cottage in the heart of McGregor. Wonderfully friendly and considerate hosts. Could not be improved in any way. A memorable weekend break.
I always enjoy staying in this little cottage and will return again soon.
