What a lovely venue, and loved the house, the front door sticks a lot ,however it is clear that the maintainance that is starting is much needed(grass around house,eg)
We had a dinner, the side dishes and salads were nice, but wow wow wow the beefstew was not edible, besides the "roast"potato was n 1cm piece in the sause, the meat was only chunks of fat and bone, and the total of meat was 1 tablespoon. The chef needs to know that although the taste was ok,a very expensive meal if without a reasanable amount of meat, something was really wrong with her choice of meat cut. Besides that all was pleasant

The road is just terrible - and it puts you off having to leave your accommodation as you know you have to venture onto that road through town.
The Pub owners need a little education on how to create a cosy atmosphere as there was none. But restaurants are great.

Its an awesome little town with scenic views.
Its an awesome little town with scenic views. It has everthing you need but if you do happen to leave your entire bag at home, like me, Alice is just a 25km drive away. Everyone is friendly and helpfull and the nature walks are a must but maybe take a flask if cofee and or some water with in a backpack for the road. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be going back for the garden show in the summer. I was amazed at the large variety if azalias growing evrywhere. The pizza at the restaurant was amazing. The Savemor surprised us with a wide variety of cheeses and other food options.

A walk in the Arboretum to the 39 Steps waterfall, the labaryth at the Edge and a visit to ST Paul's on the Hill are all all must do activities. Do yourself a favour and taste the locally brewed beer and enjoy the tasting in their garden or tasting room - th biltong bowl is also highley recomended.

The forest in the mountain is breathtaking beautiful.
The forest in the mountain is breathtaking beautiful. The road between Cathcart and Hogsback is only for serious 4x4 cars, no warning about the terrible condition. The chocolatier in the main road needs a recommendation as well as the warm pastries.
If only. . .
If only it was a getaway, instead of an overnight.
If only we had more time.
Plan better next time, and stay a few days to absorb and experience the true splendor of Hogsback. (Note to myself)
It does not matter the season, nor the weather (it was a chill, rainy day when we stayed here), Away with the Faeries is pure soul food. Take time for the road less traveled over and down the other side of the mountain. You will find the angels blessing you with even more beauty.
Away with fairies gave us an amazing experience with the cliff bath, we didn't expect it to have hot water but to our surprise it had.
We were welcomed by a very friendly lady, she is the highlight of our trip.
Away with the fairies has everything you would wish for,the place was so peaceful.
It was beautiful as well, they also have 2 friendly Dogs who became our best friends.
Our friendly host even told us about other beautiful places in Hogsback that we didn't know.
The location of accommodation is the best, with beautiful views over the edge and the Parkrun is taking place walking distance from your cottage.
Thank you so much for beautiful, quiet, clean and safe accommodation. The sunrise, sunsets and stars at this site is precious. Will definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking for accommodation in Hogsback. The outdoor shower and bath is amazing , we could enjoy champagne for our anniversary in the outdoor bath with sunset .
Location brilliant, loved the homely feel of our suite (Frodo) and that we could self cater, the fireplace in the bedroom was absolutely amazing as it was chilly in the evenings and it lent such a lovely atmosphere. Right at the edge of the forest so easy to get to. The cliff bath was so special, monkeys running around outside and the resident dogs....OOOOHHHH and the amazing Kahuna massage we had with Amanda in the area overlooking the forest.
All staff were great!
Location is (I'm 99% sure) the best in Hogsback. The view is breathtaking and the cottage is perfectly situated to see all the landmarks of Hogsback. The cottage is unpretentious, but comfortable. It is well equipped and had whatever we needed. The manager Annari is amazing, she is welcoming and made us feel right at home like old friends. She was very helpful with everything happening in town with recommendations on where to eat, where to go and not to go etc.
I really loved how clean and historic the hotel was. It made me think that we were living in a different era. The hotel has a history and you can feel it. The staff treated us well and gave us some good tips on which restaurants to visit and where the starting points were for some nearby hikes. The town has a general loving atmosphere and everyone is welcoming and happy.
Kings Lodge Hotel and Hogsback will always hold a special place to me. I have celebrated milestones under their care. It was a treat returning for some peace of mind. From their hospitality, to their rooms and their warmth, my stay was an absolute joy. My friend joined me this time and could completely understand why I love staying here.
Friendliness and helpful lady on arrival. She helped start a fire for us. Love the driveway approach and seclusion of the space. Short trip to anywhere in Hogsback from here. Loved all the spots we finally found to visit...and waking to the sound of the friendly pigs and monkeys each morning was a special treat to watch!
The house is very spacious and is set in a beautiful location. The owner is very warm, welcoming and shared a lot of information with us about Hogsback. The essential oils shop on the premises is a must visit. We were especially happy about the house being dog friendly so we could take our dog with.
The place was amazing and the area of Hogs back beautiful. Staying at Maple Grove really enhanced the Hogsback experience. Will definitely make it a point to go Back. The Hosts, Lindsay and Peter was friendly and easy to deal with and of great assistance in exploring the area.
It was my first time in Hogsback and it was myself and my husband's anniversary. The staff at Kings Lodge made our stay so special. The most incredible staff I have ever come across. Definitely coming back again with my family. Honestly I can't recommend Kings Lodge enough.
What an awesome place. Serene and calm in the Hogsback mountains. The host was super nice and offered for us to stay another night free of charge. Unfortunately we could not take him on his offer as we already had prior arrangements. Will definitely visit again.
The cottage was beautiful and we loved the garden as well, almost seemed magical here...
Hogsback was a first for my kids and I and I would def recommend staying here and we will def want to come back again!
Graham was very welcoming and very helpful!
Hogsback is a hidden gem and Maple Grove is a gem among gems. The room had everything we needed. The property was beautiful with a lush garden with a surrounding forest. The Maple meander was beautiful too. I definitely want to visit again soon.
Location - situated close to central Hogsback and attractions.
Chalet cosy and fitted with all amenities for a long distance traveller.
The gardens and dogs were a bonus for my kids who could play on the property on a rainy day.
Wonderful cottage with a lovely host. Off the grid, so no load shedding worries. The fireplace was absolutely amazing for heating up the cottage. Beautiful garden. Great location. Great stay here in Hogsback!
It is indeed a traditional old hotel with rich history in the most amazing setting. The owner was very involved and keen to share information about the hotel, the area, etc.
