We haved stayed there previously, so knew it would be clean, comfortable and central. The staff were all friendly, and our breakfast waiter went to special trouble to organize me a breakfast that was previously available but had been taken off the menu.

It compares to Clarens in the Free State.

It compares to Clarens in the Free State. The perfect setting if you like to fish. Lots of shops to shop for family and friends. Not really too much to do, but do visit the Birds of Prey Centre they have live shows with birds twice a day. Restaurants are good, a good variety of food to choose from. We particularly enjoyed Mrs Simpson very traditional cuisine, a must. Walkerson's is a beautiful estate, for fishing and accommodation. It is easy to get around in Dullstroom, everything is close and within walking distance. I did not think there is great activities but if you like to taste wine and whiskey, plenty of places to visit. Unfortunately there is a lot of big trucks driving through the town taking away from the ambiance.

Dullstroom is one of the gems of South Africa. It is a quaint little town in the most beautiful surroundings. The scenery is just spectacular. The town is laid back but offers everything you would need for a weekend away or a long relaxing stay. The restaurants and shops are top class.

The peace and added sense of safety was my enthralling take...

The peace and added sense of safety was my enthralling take away. I never imagined Dulstroom to have such a convenient selection of restaurants. Everyone is friendly, however there is the risk at being mobbed by fruit and nut vendors. The few back streets were busy with cattle traffic, with semblances to life in the 1900's, a calming invigorator and placeholder for South African history. There was a mosque and a friendly shopkeeper who offered halal Indian foods, "brought new meaning to Cafe' dining". The dark seemed darker than usual, which brough about a pleasant post sunset calmness. The urge to switch off and relax is influenced by the clear skies, still waters that reflect the moon and stars and the absolute night silence. Enjoy the occasional cry of birds or the orchestral sounds of the insect world. One almost feels like a" back in time" traveler. I have driven through this town umpteen times, my sleepover, however, has changed my perception and has dramatically positively inspired my week-end get-away option, viva Dulstroom. Nice fusion of modern and yester-year

Dullstroom is beautifully scenic and very peacefully, we ate at some great restaurant's one of our favourites was Altitude bar and Mayfly (seriously some of the best pizza I've ever had). Dunkeld Estate is where we stayed and it feels very safe it is also very well looked after and clean. I had a great little getaway weekend did some fun activities like quad biking and paddle, eat good food and relaxed.
