FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colourful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers a variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settling process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

Great City and surrounding area to visit and live in,...

Great City and surrounding area to visit and live in, despite the safety concerns that many visitors have, which are justified. Having said that, if you are conscious about your surroundings and careful not to e.g. leave items in your car, or walk in unfamiliar areas at night, the probability is low that you are at risk. I have visited Cap Town several times in the past six years, and can only share experiences of others, such as attempted snatch and grab of e.g. purses. But again, this occurs in EU and US cities as well. Enjoy your visit to Cape Town.

No amount of time is enough for Capetown. It's a city for dreamers and every time I visit, I feel I didn't stay enough. The City sightseeing Capetown bus was amazing, I loved the fact that I could just hop on n off where I wanted. Loved the kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. So beautiful ! Loved the camps bay vibe too, perfect for sometime out with my mum n kid. Also loved V&A waterfront. Special mention to Coco Safer, was a lovely cafe with the most amazing food. Yummm!!!

I liked several tourist attractions outside the city, limited with time, but visited Table Mountain, couple beaches, Cape of Good Hope, winery places. The city itself is rather unpleasant. Lot of crime happens, it is risky to walk in the city after sunset, and even during the day.

I traveled alone to Cape Town and felt completely safe and comfortable in this hotel. The rooms are large, pleasant and very clean. Much better than the pictures show. The owners are extremely attentive and make you feel at home. Very good breakfast. Excellent location, close to the Waterfront, Green Point, with easy access to Uber and buses. A residential and quiet area, I walked around and felt safe. I stayed for 30 days in Altona and have no complaints. Everything was perfect.

Literally everything beat my expectations because it was in the middle of the CBD so it was close to everything. The apartment says "Self Catering" so people shouldn't expect hotel service, clean after yourself and everything else for the duration of your stay. The apartment was clean, beds had clean linen and towels. And the rest was a jol. The host Wim was the best to communicate with and the security at the building was very helpful. Definitely coming back to room 403

Great small hotel positioned in easy striking distance of Sea Point, the Waterfront and Central Cape Town. Our room had a small terrace which gave us a great spot to enjoy our sundowners. The room was spacious with en-suite bathroom including a walk in shower. Breakfast on the pool area was great with a good selection of cooked breakfast and other options. Staff were very helpful. Delightful place to stay for a few days in Cape Town.
