The hotel is the sort of place you'd hope to find after a long day's drive — very clean, comfortable, dark at night and quiet. No spectacular views on either side. The room we were assigned looked out onto an empty car park and a garbage bin, so we were glad that the staff member on the registration desk was able to find another room on the other side, which at least looked out at some lights and activity. Bathroom had a bath, and all the expected amenities—shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, tissues, hair dryer. Fortunately after having spent the last three nights at motels with bathroom lights that turned noisy fans on at the same time as lights, this one did not have a fan.
It was New Year's Eve the night we stayed, and we had arrived tired and hungry. We were hoping to order some take out asian food but discovered that there was nothing open in Utica with decent reviews. We eventually settled on going to the restaurant next to the hotel, Chesterfield's Tavolo, and had a wonderful meal served by very efficient staff, in a very lively and happy atmosphere.

The day & night front desk gentleman were amazing. Remember them from last year. They are always kind and great hosts.
I had a great stay last year and came again. This year was still ok (renovations happen) .

I honestly didn't see Utica.
I honestly didn't see Utica. The hotel seemed to be at the edge of town, and I stayed here because it was along our road trip home, and near my friend's town, which didn't have suitable accommodation of its own. The neighbourhood didn't make any real impression on me, except that it was pretty easy to access from the turnpike.

Went for the Adirondack Train ride.
Went for the Adirondack Train ride. Other then that, didn't seem like there was much else to do there. Seemed like a Ghost town. No where to eat within walking distance of the hotel and the one restaurant in the hotel did not open according to posted hours. Seemed like hotel management was not aware of what was going on with the in house restaurant. It is my opinion, that when people travel they like to have some place to eat

Look and feel of an old Grand Hotel with all the modern upgrades needed in room. Love the blend between the two and the history of the site as well. Seemed upscale for the price and would definitely stay again if in area.

This was an overnight stay, off highway.
This was an overnight stay, off highway. Picked city from a map based on location relative to final destination. It's a tired town and the hotel is in a kind of nasty area. Just very industrial, amongst a sea of no-tell motels. There's a neat old hotel (another, better chain owns it) up about a mile. We wish we'd stayed there (we ate there).
The hotel itself is tired. It's clean, but it's had a hard life and this is clearly a "budget" hotel chain. The place was VERY loud. My wife went to the desk to have someone speak to the room (not wanting to make it a confrontational issue with the next room), there was no one there. She waited awhile, and another guest walked through. My wife gestured 'do you know where he is?' pointing to the counter, and the woman said, "oh, no idea," and rolled her eyes. Later, my wife had to speak to a loud family in the lobby area (our door was off that area, and the door was propped open (perhaps because the kids kept letting it slam shut). Mind you, this was well after 11PM.
So, long and short:
Utica -- not my bag, might be yours. Place seems tired.
Days Inn -- nope. Just don't.

The Econolodge was in a great location.
The Econolodge was in a great location. There was no continental breakfast due to the Pandemic, which I could understand. At least there were enough eateries close by. The room was very comfortable especially because the weather was very cold and windy outside. I will probably stay there again in the near future. It was nice that our dog was able to join us.

I came to Utica to share the loss of a family member.
I came to Utica to share the loss of a family member. My second visit in 20 years. Overall I found Utica as a small city trying to keep up with the modern era. There is a pastry shop on 5A that I was impressed with and found the local clientele very friendly. I feared a lot of vagrancy and homelessness, yet I did not see anyone to fear. I enjoyed driving through the western neighborhoods and seeing the old houses especially in Yorkville. It's pleasant to see how property owners have taken the initiative to improve their properties and showcase their houses. I was also impressed with the light traffic. Plenty of room to make your next turn. Food options are fantastic especially with the individual, family owned, restaurants. I want to go back again.
Quaint little dog friendly place in Utica Ny- worked for us for a night to stay with our five year old twins. We were in town to visit family and friends before the holiday, and this place worked out great to spend the night. Thoroughly renovated and clean, they even left complementary beer, sodas water & coffee in the kitchen. House is in close proximity to the village of New Hartford, & a short drive to downtown Utica.
Nice B&B just south of downtown in a very nice neighborhood. Lots of historic homes, private parking lot. I wish I could have stayed for the breakfast, but I had to leave earlier than it was being offered. The owners did get up to prepare coffee, and left me a muffin for breakfast, was very kind of them. As I have to travel to Utica often on business, I think I'll stay here often. Great value, and great location.
The location seems a bit unimpressive, but it's actually perfect: quiet, close to everything, and peaceful! The receptionist at check-in was phenomenal, and the room was comfortable. Many budget hotels are in the area (on this particular exit), but this one is in the best location to get a nice night of rest. The room was clean and comfortable. No complains. A+
We liked the location of the hotel. It's right at the trailhead for the Erie Canal and we were able to bike from the hotel to the trail. It's also close to SUNY POLYTECHNIC where our son attends which was the point of our trip. The staff of the hotel were all friendly and very accommodating.
Breakfast was good.
We do not recommend this hotel. The room was not clean. There was hair in the sink and in the tub. The headboard was also unclean. We had to wipe everything before using. The heating/AC unit made loud squeaking noises every time it went on and off.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and as we had stayed there for a night a few days previously on the way to Niagra Falls we had liked it then so decided to stay again on the way back to Harrison, NY.
This hotel is very accessible form the Erie Canal Bike Trail which were riding. It is a standard Days Inn towards the cleaner more well maintained end. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
Breakfast was ok. Time restriction of 6-9:00 am was not normal for most travelers. The hotel location was in a secluded location and not comfortable for travelers from out of town.
Comfortable room conveniently located close to several restaurants/bars/fast food options. We usually stay here for the best day in Utica of the year - the BOILERMAKER!
The breakfast being included in the price is a plus that keeps bringing us back to this hotel when we are in town. There's a good variety of food to choose from.
