Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, South Haven, MI, hotel in South Haven

Less than 10 minutes’ drive from the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, this South Haven hotel offers rooms with flat-screen TVs and free WiFi. The hotel features a 24-hour fitness centre on site.

Our room was located well & would have been quiet, but for our neighbors with older children (not toddlers or babies) who were not controlled. They were kicking a ball in the hallway & talking on their cell phones in the hallway outside our room. We notified the staff and the noise eventually stopped.

The place was clean. AC wasnt up to speed. There was no mode to keep the AC on all night. Kept shutting off on thermostat and fan wasnt adequate to cool the room Outside temps were in the high 80's and 90's this weekend Bathroom exhaust fan couldnt keep up with getting rid of moisture from wet towels and suits. Pool was nice.

    South Haven is so cute!

South Haven is so cute! I am from South Bend, IN which is only 1 hour away, and I only stayed for 1 night, but I felt like so was on a lovely vacation on the east coast. The town has such a nice vibe! South Beach is a great, beautiful beach with a lighthouse and a playground. I also went to 12 Corners Winery, The Flying Saucer Cafe, Black River Tavern, New Holland Spirits, and South Haven Brewpub. All of the places were great, but New Holland had very unique, delicious drinks (would highly recommend the Lake Lift Lemonade, Coco Loco, and Pop That Thang), and South Haven Brewpub had a super fun vibe because of its location and because it had pool and board games. Would definitely go back!

    Attractive Lake Michigan beach town.

Attractive Lake Michigan beach town. Lots of shops and restaurants although 5-star eateries are in nearby larger towns. Clementines is a popular casual restaurant with good food. I am sure there are others but we were there only one night. Harbor area is very attractive.

Best things about Lake Michigan beaches: no salt, no seaweed, no sharks. Boutiques, restaurants, bars, boat charters, cottages, art, biking, ice cream, dogs, sunsets, lighthouse, nice cars, motorcycles, wine, live music, sand, smell of sunscreen- this is what describes SoHa Stay Unsalty

South Haven although a touristy town has its perks.

South Haven although a touristy town has its perks. There is a lot of shopping and restaurants. The town starts to close up the later it gets in the year as with anything on the west coast of Michigan. A lot of the shops have the same merchandise at different prices but may have different colors to choose from. Most all of the workers in the shops where friendly and helpful. Some even just wanted to chew your ear off with conversation. South Haven is not too far from Saugatuck and Holland but beware that Holland is mostly close on Sunday and if you plan to eat there be prepared to wait in a lengthy line.

South Haven was not attractive mostly due to the upper 30s...

South Haven was not attractive mostly due to the upper 30s temps and strong wind. Clementines was a great restaurant and the saving grace that stopped us from leaving a day early. The parking and driving is horribly crowded and I have never stayed at a hotel that didnt have its own parking . To make that worse there was no place to stop and unload so you had to drag your luggage uphill 2 and a half blocks. The place locked up at 930 at night and its a tourist town:) The staff was virtually invisible and very unfriendly. They surely gave us the worst room in the hotel. It was all bed , radiator ( ice cold ) and a small frig. You could hardly turn around in the shower. Half of the electric outlets did not work because if you plugged something in the plug just fell out. I had a great trip there this summer in a Vrbo beach rental and would not go back to this hotel or downtown on a bet .

Scott, Sam, Meahgan, and everyone else were amazing! The location is as good as it gets, it's an easy walk to all the restaurants, beaches, shops, etc. The hotel is quite old and has lots of character, the rooms were comfortable, and have been recently updated. The lobby is very well equipped 24/7, coffee, water, and even a local beer (for a reasonable fee). The made to order breakfast was eggcelent!

Hotel Nichols is beautiful, but what I liked the most was the cordial welcome with wich we were treated. Megan was always attentive to our needs. Scott, the owner, chatted with us for a while during happy hour where he served good wine and canapés.

Truthfully, I was disappointed in the breakfast. I have stayed at other B&B's where the meal was quite elaborate. And where homemade treats were at your disposal throughout the stay. Not the case at Monroe. But I did find good eats in South Haven.
