Greenwood Plantation B&B Inn, hotel in Saint Francisville

What an amazing place! Right on the plantation area with a view on the main big house. Very comfortable room, nice. Breakfast and fantastic staff including the owner who will gladly tour you through the house and tell you about its rich history, including those where the house acted as a star in movies, most significant one being North and South with Patrick Swayze.

The problems with this hotel are TOO numerous to write in...

The problems with this hotel are TOO numerous to write in this little space! This is false advertising as far as we are concerned on booking.com. There are no pictures that even remotely depict the nasty and disgusting things about this hotel!!!!!! Would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!!!!!!!!

Beautiful original city. Lots of interesting places to tour.

Beautiful original city. Lots of interesting places to tour. However more restraunt choices would have been better. Southern hospitality was as expected as I am from southern Louisiana. Getting from place to place was not difficult at all. Roast beef poboy from Magnolia Cafe wasn't quite the same as I expected it would be.

    Beautiful historic little town.

Beautiful historic little town. More of a spot for older people or an older ladies weekend. Sightseeing and shopping is something for the 50 and older crowd. Defiantly try the food from Cafe Petra, I am not usually a fan of Mediterranean food but it was the only place that would deliver to the hotel and it was totally delicious (even the pizza place does not deliver)

    Dinner and breakfast were excellent.

Dinner and breakfast were excellent. No need to leave the property. Security was excellent. The grounds were immaculate and fun to stroll. Greeting with a glass of champagne was classy. Easy to find. Coffee needs to be available before breakfast . Will stay there every chance I get.

    A must do !

A must do ! One must always eat as many different venues as possible . Southern cooking is the finest in the world ! Getting around the small town was truly smooth! Walking the plantations was so delightful and beautiful!

Don’t recommend staying at Hotel Frances.

Don’t recommend staying at Hotel Frances. Electric fixtures weren’t all working , there was mold on the shower curtain and it was old and yellowed. Special request for a purple iris and purple rose was never addressed after Booking.com said it wouldn’t be a problem and they could arrange it. It was a major let down as it was our anniversary. Room service didn’t come unless you call and ask them to and then they still didn’t. My husband went and got towels for our second night. It was expensive but spend the extra and stay in the plantations. We went and toured the plantations and definitely would stay at one of them next time around. Won’t ever come back to Hotel Frances. Very disappointed

I love the Myrtles . It's my 4th time to visit the place but first time to stay overnight . The staff were friendly and very helpful . Me and my friends enjoyed the included guided tour of the main house , hanging out and drinking coffee at Elta Coffee and the delicious food during our dinner at the Restaurant 1796. I love the cottage that we stayed in ( caretaker Quarters ) . The decor is nice , beds and pillows are comfortable . We sure had a great time /stay .

Staff was very professional and friendly. It was really nice to have a coffee pot in the room. The property felt very safe and secure. Bed was clean and comfortable. We requested a smoking room and got it, that was our main reason for choosing this property. Much to my dismay most upper end hotels no longer have any smoking rooms. I wish hotel management would realize just because I am a smoker does not mean I don't want or can't afford to stay in a 5 star hotel.

This hotel is on a golf course in a subdivision. It was odd but we really enjoyed how quiet it was. The room was large; bedroom, living room, and small kitchenette. The bathroom had a heater which I loved. There are 2 awesome pools at the golf club that guest can use. A playground is located just off the parking lot. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We are planning another trip to the area and will definitely be staying there.

The best breakfast I have experienced in my travels. The hotel offered a real hot breafast with eggs, grits, & & waffles and not a just muffin & juice like the other hotel we stayed in recently. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a lake so it was quite & peaceful but not very busy this time of year.

What I did like was location would be ideal. And I also liked that when I finally got hold of someone the following day manager I believe they apologized for the inconvenience and offered to refund my money… Without any hold backs…or cancellation fees usually associated with booking.com and some hotels..

Hotel had lost power but failed to notify us. We drove back roads for over an hour to arrive at a dark hotel with no notes, no person in the lobby, etc. Once I reached them by phone, they told me that they would lose money if they cancelled the reservation so asked us to do so instead.
