We went hot air ballooning and it was so exciting and worth the money! What a great experience. The staff, the coordination, the expertise, and the views. Highly recommend.
If you're coming for the wineries, come ready to empty your savings accounts. Napa has lost me! The wine is great, but the wine tastings are FAR too overpriced for what they offer. I did the math and it's exorbitant. Expect to pay $50 or more for about 4 wine samples, and you won't be able to choose what wines you'd like to taste. Then they will time you and kick you out when their next guests are arriving. But you better buy wine before you go or they'll complain about you to the next guests. They charge $60 - $100 per bottle on average after you've already paid $100 (per couple) to taste wines you may or may not like. I had to pour out 70% of the samples I was given. They were not wines I ever would have asked to taste. Napa is out of touch with everyday customers, and they wonder why wine sales are down and younger people are not drinking wine. There are many great restaurants to dine at, and they are all uber-expensive. Some of them are worth it though.
I won't be back unless it's for a very small winery that offers a more down to earth experience and gives the customer more flexibility. If you hear of a place like that, please share.

Napa is beautiful and of course the wineries are top notch.
Napa is beautiful and of course the wineries are top notch. All this comes at a steep price though and there are other wine regions in California that are just as good if not better without the outrageous tasting fees and the reservation requirements where you can be more spontaneous and relaxed. Napa abandoned that model long ago, as such I stay away from the area for tasting anymore.

Napa downtown is small, so walking around you can see everything in one day. The area surrounding Napa is beautiful, but you do need a car to get around. There are lovely shops but frankly everything is very expensive! We are from Europe and the prices really surprised us. Products like for example local wines are extremely expensive, something that is completely unnecessary (okay wines but not extreme, no import-/export costs etc.).
Recommendations for restaurants Napa centre: Le Paris (breakfast/lunch), Angele (nice but expensive), Wilfred's Lounge (cocktails).
If you want to go for a more upscale lunch/dinner location, go to Auberge du Soleil, further down the valley.

Biked from Vallejo to Yountville to Napa.
Biked from Vallejo to Yountville to Napa. It's always so much fun and beautiful. The deep jacuzzi tub at Napa Valley Hotel was icing on the cake. The bed swallowed me up and was so comfortable. Ad Hoc is my favorite Thomas Keller restaurant. Get their cookbook. I can actually cook these recipes.
The Hotel is really well located just outside of Napa. It‘s surrounded by vineyards. Very easy to take Uber to downtown or wineries.
The staff is friendly and helpful. (especially for good recommendations for restaurants)
The rooms are beautiful, well done work. A good size and it got all what you need.
Nice pool, hot tub and gym area.
Would definitely stay there again.
Gables Inn is a perfect base to explore the wine valleys. It's got a nice location, short walking distance to Napa and with easy access to the main valley destinations. We were treated to a nice, varied breakfast..all in all perfect for us..
Beautiful location on the golf course, only 10 min drive to Napa and ideal for touring the Valley by car or bike. Golf courses on site look stunning, but also in reach of plenty of other great courses within 20-30 mins.
Easy to park, nice staff and great groceries in the lobby. Breakfast is 5/10, but OK as it is complimentary. The hotel stays ~25 min from Santa Helena, but ~10 min from Yountville, so it's fair enough for a short stay.
The hotel is very good, personal from reception very helpful. The room was big and clean and it was at the correct price (182$/room). Perfect for us to visit Napa Valley by car.
