There is a hiking, lakes, waterfalls, tubing, skiing, and historic places to visit. Morganton is known for its own historic Morganton festival with performances by country music stars.

Quaint historic town with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The downtown area has some cute shops and restaurants. Easy to get around in and outskirts of town has the normal retail and chain restaurants.

Not a good place to stay.
Not a good place to stay. I was overcharged, still waiting on corrections. The woman who runs the front desk was there, morning, noon, night for 4 days....and looked it. Very unpleasant woman. The beds were terrible, pillows even worse. The lighting is horrible, feel like you are in a cave! Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!

Day Inn not so good the only black mark of the trip no southern hospitality at all...
All other locals very nice, friendly and helpful
hotel is older and rooms show their age and show wear, the fan for the ac and heat unit was very loud, and the ventilation fans and circulation fans in bathroom, and elsewhere were loaded with filthy dust. the continental breakfast was a good one, but no one was around for me to check out with. you don't really leave with a super great feeling of they cared alot from your stay.
Easy and friendly check-in. Our room was spotless and welcoming. Bathroom nicely appointed and exceptionally clean. The hotel appeared generally in good order and made for a pleasant stay. Nice breakfast and especially nice to receive a small bag with a few goodies for travelers in a hurry.
It’s clean, properly maintained, inviting, staff were courteous, breakfast was alright, love the freshly baked cookies in the late afternoon when we return to the hotel for the day, WiFi was fast and housekeeping was thorough.
I like the fact that the hotel is near the interstate. Also, I like the cleanliness of the bed. Finally, I like the fact that heater works and am comfortable while I was asleep. The staff behind the desk is friendly.
I love how nice and attentive the staff is and very professional with the cleanliness of the hotel and very quiet for you to literally get the R & R we deserve
