Mainly a passing town and not worth a night as the hotel prices are pretty steep. Less food choices as well. One way to see this place is arrive in the morning and leave by late afternoon. A few hours is what you need.

Great spot for a tour both a guided and a self guided if you have time. Just prepare for the weather if you are doing a tour on an open bus! Great Navajo guides and a great opportunity to learn more about Native American people.

in order to best take in the valley - I would give yourself a full day to do the scenic drive within the park, and check out some of the other scenic spots nearby. The scenic drive is only available for a short window mid day so plan accordingly. the formations and local pride in the area is very memorable.

The amount of construction around the scenic areas is shocking. I never expected Monument Valley to be in the middle of housing. It was a very sad thing to see. I guess it's the smell of money that changed Monument Valley into a kind of Disneyland. Based on what I saw, I would not make a detour.

Monument Valley is to be experienced!
Monument Valley is to be experienced! We both drove it ourselves and took a tour. I would highly recommend MV Dineh Rebekah (SP?) Cultural Tour which took us behind public areas and we had the attention of a Dineh Guide. It was magical.

The location of the hotel was great. It is very close to The Monument Valley Welcome Center where many of the tours pick up. It is also close to the Visitors Center. There are many amenities on site and they actually offer tours as well. Breakfast was not complimentary, but was offered in the on site restaurant. It was very good. The staff were helpful.
The hotel is gorgeous, very comfortable, close to the monument Valley tours. very clean, great service from security at night when the front desk was already closed, he did great doing our check in, and showing us our room and being sure that our room would open. very nice guy.
rooms are big with balcony, very cosy
Lovely place situated in the rocks of Monument Valley. The staff were really nice and upgraded us to a cabin which was very clean and spacious with a good kitchen. Location is of course very good--close to MV and you can drive a little bit out to see some dark skies for stargazing.
It was well located for a visit to Monument Valley. It was a spacious unit, with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom, a little away from the reception, swimming pool and dining room, but that worked ok. We also did a Gouldings tour with a local Navajo guide, which was excellent.
Been waiting 4 years to visit Monument Valley. We stayed in the one bedroom suite. Spacious, with dining table and living space. Sunset Tour (extra cost) was amazing. Very knowledgeable guide.
Reception staff very helpful in suggesting things to see.
Great hotel with a view! Our room had a balcony and the view was stunning! Totally worth the price. We had a chance to use a pool, it was a nice after a long drive to Monument Valley. Hotel has everything you need: restaurant, pool, museum, gift shop.
The cabin was very spacious and clean. The view from the front patio of the cabin and lovely and we watched the sunrise over Monument Valley from there the morning we were there. All services were very close to the cabin.
It us the 5th time I come at Goulding’s lodge and I love it! The villas are super confortable. you can find everything needed around (grocery shop, gaz station, restaurant, pool. And the view is amazing.
We had a stunning view of Monument Valley right from our balcony. The room was modern and very clean. We also booked a tour via the Hotel and that was great too. Easy parking right in front of our room.
Location is the second best in the Monument Valley. If you didn't get a room in the Lodge that's inside the valley, this one is the next option to see the Valley from your hotel window.
Wonderful location with nice view to the monument valley panorama. The Lodge offers a restaurant, a supermarket and a “food court” at the fuel station….. many food options for anybody.
Fantastic views over Monument valley, amazing on site free museum (leave a donation which helps local school) . Very much a high end motel at a great price
