Familiar fast-food places--mcdonalds,sonic,burger king--but also other dining available at nice restaurants. A good variety of motels/hotels, to choose from.Good gas prices. Friendly people.

People of Madras were all friendly in all restaurants and stores we visited. We came for the races both at the drag and speedway. I would not stay at the Cross Keys as very overpriced and you have a lot of other choices that are just as nice. The pub across from Safeway has wonder food and service & children allowed. The Black Bear Diner is very overpriced, but food was ok. Mexican restaurant by Safeway was wonderful (food, staff & prices).

Friendly small town; great views of the mountains from the desert side (so you almost always get a view).
350+ sunny days a year (but bring a jacket for evening, even in the summer; the temps can swing 30-40 degrees in a day).
Interesting air museum; lots of outdoor entertainment opportunities. Rockhounding nearby.
Several decent restaurants. Hunan is a surprisingly good Chinese restaurant for such a small town.
Also check out the museum in town and another 15 miles away on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation.

Madras is not a big city.
Madras is not a big city. Although it does have some touristy things to see, we mainly came because it was close to Richardson's Rock Ranch, and I found a fantastic hotel there (Inn at Cross Keys Station). We ate at both Hunan's and Wild Winds Station which were great. It's fairly close to other sites as well, such as, Cove Palisades and Smith Rock.

Madras in itself is just what it is.
Madras in itself is just what it is. Farm town that grew a little bit. Been there several times. The only complaint I would have was the motel I stayed in and the only complaint really for the money that I have about that hotel was the root service from the lady behind the counter. She was rude to my friend and was disrespectful to both of us. She was making accusations of her being a prostitute based on circumstances the most normal people wouldn’t see a reason to warrant such an accusation. She arrive before me wasn’t on the list because I forgot had to P use the man’s bathroom left to get some food and she’s a prostitute all of a sudden. After trying to convince the lady behind the counter she wasn’t the lady behind the counter said she knows a prostitute when she sees one. Pretty much put an odd damper on the weekend. Anyways it is what it is and nothings going to come of it and I’ll never see that Bluetooth speaker again so the trip was a bit more expensive due to that Bluetooth speaker than I had anticipated but I’m the one who left it.
We liked the central location and the room was clean and sufficient for our needs. The staff in the office were friendly and helpful. The price was an excellent value and the office and breakfast area looked recently updated. We usually stay at another hotel in Madras, but the price there was about double the Quality Inn's price and it was not twice as good. We decided to try the Quality Inn and are glad we did. We would stay there again.
The King bed room was comfortable with a couch and desk. The bed was comfortable. We used the refrigerator and microwave to heat up meals we had brought. The breakfast was excellent, and the ambience of the lobby and dining room is very grand. We chose this hotel because we had stayed here before and it is close to the Polka Dot Agate Mine where we dug large thunder eggs. It is also a short jaunt to Smith Rock State Park.
It was a very comfortable room and the hotel overall was super well maintained. The breakfast offered a lot of choices. The location, off the highway, was very quiet but convenient to restaurants, grocery, etc. It was a very good value. We did not check out the pool area, but it looked nice as well. Check in was earlier than most hotel/motels, which really helped. We have already reserved our next stay.
Juniper Motel, town of Madras. (I stayed 1 night while on a long solo bike tour).
Except for the internet, this was an OK stay, and was good value.
Pros: Nice lady Lorena. Spacious King room No. 102. $55+ tax. Space for 2 bikes. Twin bedside tables and lamps. OK lighting. Half size refrig, mwave. Good size table and 2 chairs. Very comfortable bed and excellent hot shower.
Very friendly staff. The room was very clean as was the bathroom. The beds were nice if a little hard but the pillows were awesome.
The breakfast staff was super helpful and friendly and the food was great. The location was easy to get to and surprisingly quiet during the night.
The rooms are well appointed and spacious. This is a good place to stay in Madras.
I like everything about budget inn by OYO in madras Oregon. Awesome staff, clean rooms, walking distance to downtown. Cute little shops to shop at. Parking is very good, and all our things were safe. When I get a chance to go back to see my kids and grandsons, I'll be staying there again
Loved the details that made the themes of the hotel stand out. Someone had a great vision and did a fantastic job seeing it through. Breakfast dining area with balcony with fabulous. Full breakfast, comfortable beds, smart tv and beautiful decor.
I like this weird little motel. The owners are super friendly - just a very nice little place to stay in Madras. Clean, good value etc. Don't expect it to be something it isn't and you'll be very satisfied.
The pool and hot tub was extremely relaxing. I work in the hotel industry, Inn at Cross Keys is my husband and I favorite, and only hotel we will stay when visiting family in Madras.
