We had an extraordinarily dedicated receptionist who gave us really good recommendations of what to do and where to go in terms of a true New York experience. I feel like her recommendations made our trip to New York City even better.

From the moment we arrived we got that true 'New York' experience we were looking for. The outside of the hotel was lovely and the foyer was so nice. The location was fantastic. So close to Central Park and walking distance to a lot of attractions. We walked a lot! The subway is very close and easy to use as well. The beds were amazing, we had the best nights sleep and the room was a lot bigger than we were expecting. We stayed 5 nights and could have easily stayed another 5. The housekeeping staff were so lovely and made use feel at home. The hotel also allowed us to store our luggage on arrival as we were early for check in, which allowed us to go and explore Central Park as soon as we got there.

The location of the hotel is brilliant as it is a short walking distance from some of the main highlights of New York. I also particularly liked the cleanliness of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Long Island City is a very mixed neighbourhood - industrial, working class, and areas being gentrified. Not everyone would feel comfortable walking around the neighborhood. But there is hip stuff developing.

We loved the Museum of the Moving Image.
We loved the Museum of the Moving Image. I am a frequent museum go-er but had never heard of this museum. Since it was right around the corner from where we were staying, my husband and I decided to go -- and were we ever surprised and impressed. We could have spent all day there. Words can't describe how great this place is. If you are a movie or TV buff, this is a must-see. Even if you are not (like me), you should still go. I'm sure you'll be bowled over with this place.
