Lovely building and pleasant garden on walking distance from the wonderful Moss Beach (4 mins on foot through a cypress forest) with a year-round harbour seal colony. Fantastic weekend escape. Staff were welcoming, rooms were large with minimalist furnishing, spotless in every aspect.
Small but great breakfast, centred generous helpings of fresh fruit.

Lovely friendly people and such a beautiful room looking out over the ocean, so clean and a bottle of fizzy for us to celebrate our anniversary. So close to lovely eating places and then a walk from Sam's Chowder House on the beach, beautiful.

Half Moon Bay is a small community with loads of weekend visitors. Hence, nutty traffic on the weekends. Restaurant options were a mixed bag - found a great Italian place (Pasta Moon) and a horrible Indian place (India Beach).

Lovely hotel & location, but certain services and facilities are curtailed at different times of the year..,.eg the dining room was closed during our stay, as was the bar and the spa. This meant no breakfast was available, and all meals/drinks needed to be taken outside of the hotel.

We stayed in Half Moon Bay to stay out of the SF/Silicon Valley crazy but many of our activities were over on the east side of the peninsula. The seafood was fantastic (Sam's Chowder House) and the beaches and road side farms were as well.

Walked from Harbor Inn to the restaurants and moorings in the harbor across the street. Beautiful harbor, lots of walking opportunities, and a lot of choices to places to eat.
I ate at Barbara's Fish Trap right on the wharf. Fresh broiled sea bass was amazing and the service was great.

Half moon bay is a great weekend visit.
Half moon bay is a great weekend visit.
While there is not much to do late at night, there is plenty to do during the day and evening.
We spend the day/night visiting shops, going wine tasting, walking on the beach, and going out to eat.
Although we sometimes like to stay out late, it was nice to come back a little early and relax back where we were staying.
Everyone in town is very friendly!

Alot of good eating places, Cameron's and the barn walking distance from quality inn. Another of places to walk along the beaches. Nice shops in the little town. My husband and I go there about every three months and stay three days.
Room was clean, comfortable and had a great view of the ocean and its wildlife and humans on the beach and enjoying the surf. The weather was typical Half Moon Bay (chilly, breezy, freshest air anywhere in the SF Bay Area). The Owner (Ann) was a delight and a great conversationalist. Breakfast was the best (generous variety of choices and always fresh) of any hotel/motel we have stayed at in the last 10 years. Centrally located for access to all local destinations and restaurants.
Half Moon Bay is a beautiful location. The Hotel Staff is wonderful.
Felt sorry for the front desk attendants as other guests who had a similar experiences to my own - booked a room believing they had an ocean view - but did not. Perhaps the hotel should provide photos of the actual rooms guests are booking, so we know exactly what to expect. Would certainly make life easier on your welcome Staff as well.
Went for a suprise 35yr anniversry stay for wife and it was excellent, very nice lobby room was very roomy and clean large bathroom and comfy bed. great view of the ocean. Nice LITTLE deck to sit at and view ocean view, was a little small when we sat legs would hit the railing but still nice to sit and view ocean

I only stayed at this hotel for 1 night, but I found it to be a comfortable place to stay.
My flight to SFO was delayed so I arrived at this hotel about 2am, but even then there was someone on the front desk to welcome me and check me in.
Absolutely beautiful place offering so many amenities. The hosts were lovely and made us feel very welcome. We can highly recommend the Nantucket Whale Inn and it will definitely be our first choice when returning to Half Moon Bay
We had a very warm welcome and the room was of very high quality for the price - two large comfortable beds and good facilities including a kettle which is so unusual in an American hotel - would definitely recomm
end!
Quaint beach front house hotel with great restaurant /bar just next door - no noise problem at all. Fire places in the room. Spacious and owner on site. Very sweet and accommodating. A lovely rustic stay
