I should have done more research on what to do outside of Gatlinburg. The main town was a tourist trap with the chain restaurants and souvenir shops, old time photo shops and taffy candy stores. Parking was between $10-$20 at each lot, and it was crowded for end of April. Aside from the skywalk, I wasn’t too impressed. However driving along rt441 through the Smokies was the biggest highlight of the trip. It’s a stunning location, just find something to do outside the hub.

This was our third time to Gatlinburg for more than one night. One time we camped but we were too far out of town. Last summer and this spring we stayed at an inexpensive hotel in town. We love being able to walk to different restaurants and shops. We liked Crockett's for breakfast but be sure to go early - before 8:30 because there are long lines otherwise. We also enjoyed the Cherokee Grill which does take reservations and the Best Italian cafe and Pizzeria. The pizza was very good New York style pizza. For fine dining, the Greenbriar is off the beaten path and hands down one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant. It is pricey so I wouldn't bring children there. We enjoy the hiking and did a nice hike up Chimney Tops to the lookout. It took us 3.5 hours up and back down. I also highly recommend Cades Cove. If you like biking ,they close the 11 mile loop to cars on Wednesdays. We biked it and saw 11 bear in 11 miles! The free trolley is great for getting around Gatlinburg but can be a long wait and very crowded.

We had such a blast even with our 15 month old son, our 14-year-old loves going to pigeon Forge to ride the go carts. Dicks last resort is definitely a go to for dinner, but you have to be able to take the comedy in raunchiness. So much fun! The hospitality was amazing 🥰 I love going to the candy store along the strip right past the rolling ball. They have such a selection of gummy‘s and that is one of my favorite things. The Ripleys arcade and gift shop is really fun too they have rubber snakes and two headed animal stuffed animals. Would definitely recommend anybody. Even the adult side of things was fun 🤩

Gatlinburg is a great location to use as a base for hiking the Great Smoky Mountains. BUT the 'town' of Gatlinburg is a mix of a bad theme park and tacky portion of Las Vegas. Such a shame that the town was not developed as a lovely base of a hiking village for the National Park.

There is a newer establishment there called Skyland Ranch.
There is a newer establishment there called Skyland Ranch. It is so beautiful. If you go on Groupon you can get an amazing deal (it's good for 3 days)
Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is amazing and has a Groupon as well.
We ate at Skyland Ranch one day, they have a food truck as well as food inside.
The Baymont by Wyndham Gatlinburg On The River appears to have been recently renovated (including the room we stayed in); and the outdoor room balcony (over-looking the river) is a very nice touch! The hotel is conveniently located (walking distance) from downtown Gatlinburg (attractions, shops, and food); and the Smokey Mountain National Park. There was always ample parking available regardless of what time we returned to the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Gatlinburg/Smokey Mountain National Park!
I was very pleased with the location of the hotel. I was also very pleased with the overall room and would describe the hotel as excellent in all areas. I had done some research prior to our travel on hotels, activities, and restaurants, but I was even more pleased with the hotel than I had anticipated. I would rate this as the very best hotel to stay when traveling to Gatlinburg. In fact, I will stay at Greystone for all future visits that are to Pigeon Forge as well as Gatlinburg.
This was our first day at Edgewater. We loved it! The hotel itself is showing its age but the interior is well kept and up to date. Our room had a spectacular view of Gatlinburg and we were right in the middle of everything. Also, the breakfast is very good. They had everything you could want for breakfast.
A number of people complain about the parking. However, once you learn the layout of the parking and the hotel. It is not a problem at all.
The staff was VERY friendly and helpful. The location was very close to downtown Gatlinburg and you could even walk there or there is a tram stop right in front of the hotel if you don't want to pay for parking. Our balcony overlooked the river and there is even a fire pit with some chairs by the river which we did not use. Everything was clean and they serve a hot breakfast and there is a waffle maker. We would definitely stay here again!
The pool at this hotel is phenomenal for kids. My son spent a total of about 14 hours just playing in pool during our 4 day stay. The location I thought was great. Right outside downtown Gatlinburg. Seriously a 9 minute walk and your in the action but far enough away parking is easy and the hotel is very quiet. Also, the room size. The photos do not do it justice. The room and bathroom were huge. I was not expecting it to be so big.
Motel is located very near to the town and its walking distance of say around 0.75 to 1 mile. Mr. Dharmesh who was owner of the hotel was very friendly and accomodative. They have maintained place very well and everything is walking distance from the hotel which makes life easy for traveller to avoid parking issue in downtown. Definitely worth the value for money which we spend.
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms have a nice design and were cleaned well. Generous breakfast bar with a good range of choices. Located very close to downtown Gatlinburg, I is any easy walk and great to be able to park at the hotel and just walk around all the shops. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great stay in Gatlinburg!!!
Pleasantly surprised with this hotel, especially for the price compared to the other hotels in the area. It was right on the river and had a cute shared balcony off your room to view the river. Very serene there. Very short walk to the main strip in town and also a 2 minute walk to the Gatlinburg trail in the national park. Amazing value for the money!
Staff were all really friendly and good fun/conversation.
The room was great, spacious and clean.
Bathroom was big with a huge shower.
Balcony had a nice view of the hills behind.
Location is excellent for Gatlinburg and the Smokies.
Clean.
Bed was SO comfortae. I stay in a lot of hotels and this was some of the best sleep I've had in a long time.
Amazing location - a short walk to downtown but out of the bustle of the town centre. Free convenient parking and only a short drive into the national park which was the reason for our visit. The apartment was clean and comfortable, brand new and modern decor, really made us feel at home! Thanks Laurie for a fantastic stay in Gatlinburg.
We enjoyed the sound of the brook behind our room and wished the weather was warmer to enjoy the balcony, pool, and maybe a fire. Breakfast was very good and served by a friendly server. The hotel was in walking distance to the main strip.
Room was large, Beds were fairly comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Overall cleanliness was excellent. Fire pits were nice and the kids enjoyed the pool. Very close to downtown Gatlinburg, hotel provided a parking pass.
We have stayed at this hotel previously. The rooms are always clean. One of our queen beds had what appeared to be old rough sheets on them that need to be replaced. The location near downtown Gatlinburg is ideal though.
