This is an older multi-story motel, which was a convenient stop on our way from Virginia to Canada. The hotel provided a decent self-serve breakfast with some hot options. There was a swimming pool in operation. We had dinner at a bar/restaurant within the hotel, and the food and drink there was quite good.

Outstanding hotel. Everything was mint condition. Staff was outstanding. Nicest most complete free breakfast of any hotel that I have ever stayed at. Very clean place.

It is home for me.
It is home for me. It’s sad to see some of the buildings torn down. There are some bad spots at night. Young people hanging around, loud motorcycles going up and down. First time I was afraid to walk around at night

There really is little reason to come to this town.
There really is little reason to come to this town. It is a jump-off point for several tours of the surrounding area, and if you are coming into this area for work, where Scranton would be a little far, this is a very nice hotel, better than Hampton Inn, that is if you have to come to Carbondale. I would not stop here if it wasn't for a work assignment. The lighting in the room is excellent, and although my room faced Main Street, after 8PM or so, it was fairly quiet. If you need to be someplace for multiple months, this isn't a bad place. However if you like to cook, try to find long-term housing closer to Scranton. The improvement and widening of Route 6 (not Business Rt 6) makes the drive from Scranton a much easier commute.
Stopped in Carbondale on my way to the Skeanatles coming from Philly. Didn't arrive until late at night but I had no issue checking in. Carbondale is a charming town. I walked around the town late at night and it was pleasantly silent. I appreciated the town paying homage to the towns history and their hometown heroes/veterans. Would definitely recommend Hotel Anthracite if you are ever traveling in the area. Unfortunately I missed breakfast because I slept in.
As we arrived to find the street closed for a festival -we called and the front desk attendant patiently guided us in to the hotel parking lot. We checked in late from traveling and needed nutriment - once again Kierie? (Front Desk) kindly helped us place a to-go order from the restaurant ensuring we had food. Once again very accommodating! Kudos! Breakfast next morning was great prior to our departure.
The location was central to everything we needed, including the wedding venue. I liked the actual bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. I have a lot of hair and there was plenty of product. Seems smart on the hotels part as well, not to shell out a ton of money for those little bottles in every room. The bartender was awesome and friendly.
I’m pretty picky when it comes to hotels, especially when traveling with my 2 toddlers, and I found our room and the hotel in general to be very clean and comfortable. We ordered room service from the steakhouse and it was delicious and very fairly priced. It was an overall great experience and we’d stay here again!
They have a beautiful facility and the staff was very helpful. The staff was very kind and even with issues i having (which didn't have to do with the hotel at all)they found ways to help me figure out some ways to resolve them. Can say that the rooms we super clean as well!
The hotel was wonderful. -it was clean, they gave us a wonderful breakfast and we ate dinner in the restaurant. The staff was wonderful and kind and the bed in the rooom was so confortable. I will reccommend to all my family and friends when traveling to this area.
I have never been to Carbondale PA but it was such a pleasant experience. We learned about the history of the area. The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for us. I definitely recommend a stay at the Anthracite Hotel. Plus, they are pet friendly!
A very comfortable and clean room, exceptionally helpful and friendly staff members, a cozy bar/restaurant, an easy parking. A lovely hotel with historical photos throughout. A great location to break up our long drive.
Hotel Anthracite was excellent!! room was spacious, the beds were super comfy and the price was right! it included breakfast and had a gym! I couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
I've been coming to this hotel since it was new and they have maintained it well. And is a great gem in an area that doesn't have any other nice hotels.
