Bishop is a small town that offers a bunch of outdoor recreation. We mainly go for the rock climbing in the area. It is also a great stop if you're headed to Mammoth, June Lake, Yosemite, etc. from the south. It's more or less our home away from home. Due to the small nature of the town, it's very easy to meet locals that you could possibly see on your next visit, and it's easy to get around and to know which spots to get gas and food from. For food, we recommend the taco truck (Taqueria mi Guadalajara), Indiego, and Erick Schat's. For climbing gear, my favorite would be the mammoth gear exchange.

We just stayed for the night on our way out of Yosemite NP. Hard to comment with that limited stay. Getting to the City is easy if you love Sierra mountains. You need a taxi. I would explore Bishop more in future. Nice access point to Sierra.

Bishop is a wonderful place for outdoor activities pretty much anytime of year. I had passed through town many times and finally had the opportunity to to spend a week. I barely scratched the surface of this small town. I would start the day at Pupfish Cafe or Black Sheep Coffee Roasters for coffee and a light breakfast. Spellbinder Books was definitely worth a visit as I found a few books to add to my traveling collection. There are off-road and hiking trails all around the surrounding area, with plenty of camping and fishing opportunities as well. The Laws Railroad Museum is a surprising treat.

I love Bishop & the Eastern Sierra... I come here often and generally come to Bishop for Mule Days each year but have also come for a Pack Trip and also fishing. I love this little town and the ability to walk down the main street to eat & shop... this trip we did some fishing and had great success.

Bishop is an easy town to get around in...small but mighty. And, the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains were spectacular on this trip...did not want to come home and leave my favorite ride on Hghwy. 395 behind!!
Had a great evening dinning at Whiskey Creek...

Always a good stay with friendly staff and simple...
Always a good stay with friendly staff and simple accommodations that are sufficient to get a good night rest and also make friendships. Super convenient and clean. I would suggest they add a compost bin to their trash and recycling bin area.
Rooms are newly renovated and super nice for a motel. Great location right on the main road, walking distance to the McDonald's and Yamatani restaurant. Facilities are really nice and updated, clean and comfy bed, nice brand new bathroom, just incredible value! I've stayed in much shittier places in bishop that cost 50% more. I believe renovations are recent which are why the previous reviews are so bad, but I would absolutely stay here again.
It was just for one night so I can't say it was the greatest but the bed was nice to sleep in. The shower had warm water & good pressure. Heater worked well throughout the night in the winter. Housekeeping was very helpful when I had questions. There was plenty of parking but I'm not sure if the rooms were all booked up. It was located in a good area of town, close to stores I needed & of course to the outdoor recreation Bishop has to offer.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE Everything was terrible Breakfast there was so many people not enough food!
No hot food, terrible buffet. didn't get to eat had to go elsewhere
For the price I would never ever recommend booking.com or Quality Inn ever. I will use Expedia better quality hotels more accurate regarding property information
In my 12 years of traveling average of 6 times a year, the worst place we have ever stayed!!!!!!!
Eastside Guesthouse and Bivy is an adult European hostel-style accommodation.
The rooms are spartan, but clean and up-to-date. No tv in the room (no problem!) and the communal kitchen and leisure areas are well kept and stylish. The room was set back so no road noise.
The hotel is also located right next to the Erik Schatt bakery, a must-visit place for breakfast pastries and bread.
You can't get a better value in Bishop.
Big, grassy play area for the dogs! All the pet-friendly rooms are overlooking the play area, as far as possible from the main road and traffic. (Would be slightly better with gates.)
Nice pool, laundry room and bbq grill. Very friendly staff. Good A/C in the room.
Easy walk to lovely parks, including a community garden and the Bishop dog park (see pics), and to the famous bakery. Gorgeous mountain views.
The accommodation is for hikers in the area. The room was comfortable as was the bed. I had a relaxing night as was joined by Lucy the Cat! Not sure she was allowed in our room, but I was missing my cat and she cheered me up. The town of Bishop is a surprise. I thought it would be quiet, but was a bustling strip. Went to the local bars and everyone was really friendly :)
It is a really quiet location, just enough off 395 to eliminate traffic noise, but close enough to walk to restaurants, etc. The hotel is really cute and the staff is friendly. It's all one floor, with dedicated parking spot for each unit, so if you have a bunch of junk to unload, it's easy to do so. (plenty of street parking too if you had multiple cars for some reason).
The room was quite spacious (King Standard) and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Location was great, but there is a lot of street noise, so bring earplugs or use white noise. Shatt’s Bakery is only a few doors down, as are other good restaurants. I thought it was a really nice hotel, especially at a more reasonable price than others in Bishop. Pleasantly surprised!
Great room, equiped with coffeemaker, microwave and fridge, clean and nice bathroom, good bed. Friendly staff. We didn't really notice much of the negative remarks other reviews mentioned. Yes, sometimes you could hear your neighbor a little bit, but it wasn't that bad. And the room looked quite modern (we've seen more dated interiors in other hotels).
The room was clean and freshly painted. It was very quiet, as requested, at the rear of the building. No additional charge for the dogs was a huge plus, most motels charge extra for this, some as much as $25 per dog, and I resent paying this as they are no additional work, it's not like they spend hours in the shower and use extra towels...
The location was great, and the facilities looked nice. It was walking distance from Erick Schat's Bakkery, a must-go place in Bishop. The parking had enough lots for all guests, so it was very easy to park.
The place is well-situated, and it was extremely quiet at night. As a converted house, the place has more atmosphere and charm than other relatively inexpensive places to stay in Bishop.
We were gone before 6 am so I have no idea about the breakfast. The pool was in working order, our room was clean and we were left 4 towels which a lot of hotels are no longer doing.
