Nice location at river side, very quite area and nice garden but dry at this time of the year. Host very kind and rooms are very clean good size and a/c is perfect. Swimming Pool clean and good size.
No breakfast dining drinks available so you have to drive 2-3 km to nearest 7/11 to bring what you need.
But its a nice place so no thumbs down here.

We drove up to visit Wat Prathat Chaiya, and Pum Riang town, had a sumptuous seafood lunch at Pho cape, and explored the long coast towards the north. The beaches are long, beautiful, and undeveloped.
We also visited Ratchaprapa dam. The mountain water scenery is beautiful. A leisurely drive around the area is a pleasure.

We really liked Surat Thani.
We really liked Surat Thani. There is a well maintained waterfront , plenty of shops and restaurants and a really good night market with plenty of food stalls.
We went on a boat trip on a long tail boat on the river and through the canals which was interesting and good value.

Loved this laid back city.
Loved this laid back city. We went on the boat ride (1 hour) through the mangrove area and saw lots of monitor lizards. In the evening it's great to go to the night market and graze on delicious street food. The area next to the night ferry also fills up with food stalls and you can sit there for a meal and a beer and watch the world go by. Would definitely recommend staying here for at least a night. It feels like authentic thailand.

Not many good restaurants that we found. People not as friendly as other locations. Ate in the Craft Bistro one night which on first impressions looked awful but the food was really good. Also ate in the Riverside restaurant, slightly more expensive but food good and a band singing nice music. Again, people not overly friendly though.

Organising a taxi at the airport was shambolic - I ended up walking 5km to my hotel because the local taxi drivers did not want to take me as it was relatively close and therefore, not 'worth their while' - Make sure you prebook a bus, taxi, shuttle etc before you arrive.

We only needed to stay one night in Surat Thani before traveling to Khao Sok National Park.
We debated whether the best option was to find a hotel near the airport or in Surat Thani Town.
I'm glad we decided to stay at the Harbour Front Hotel because Surat Thani is small but lively. The hotel is next to the Night Market, which has multiple food and shopping options (clothes, nail salon, decorations, etc.).
We needed a place to stay overnight in Surat Thani on the way from Bangkok to the islands and this hotel was everything you could need and more. Very clean and comfortable rooms and the staff went out of their way to help us arrange long distance transport, even though it was very last minute. Good breakfast was included. We booked it twice on separate occasions :)
