Great communication with the team before arrival. Jane offered to set me up with tours etc. upon arrival, even trying to connect travellers to share excursions. The room was comfortable and had a good size. Air-con worked without a hitch, but insulation/ventilation was quite good, so I actually didn't need it much. The pool is a bonus, but the beach opposite is actually is nice for a city beach. It's a little far from shops/supermarkets, but close to the nicer restaurants in town. Unlike other places in São Tomé, I felt the staff genuinely enjoys working at Emoyeni Gardens and was always friendly and courteous.

The most remarkable thing about The hotel was the receptionists (Vania, Jerseley and Isaias). They were very professional, friendly and supportive. I wish I could remember the names of all the staff who worked at the restaurant throughout the week. They handle well a few rude customers. They always remained calm and respected them. I think you should place a notice board at your hotel stating that you won’t tolerate racism or any discrimination against your staff.

An unknown jewel!
An unknown jewel! We visited idyllic places, saw the most amazing sunsets over tropical beaches & saw very few tourists.
Most of the locals were very friendly and helpful. It is a photographic paradise.

They have a lot of historical sites and great beaches and islands with friendly people and lots of local cuisines. The city is in bad shape and bad roads and they need to develop the tourism sector particularly their tourist sites . The airport is bad for a tourism country like that and the hotels needs to up their services to meet a value for money and they need to learn English language which is an international language especially the staff of the various hotels and all tour guides. It’s a great place to visit at most for 5days.

Sao Tome is a fantastic destination.
Sao Tome is a fantastic destination. A safe tropical Island almost untuched from the outside world. It is not for unseasoned travellers or the ones who want a lot of service and/or Diesney like conditions. It can be a bit costly and you have to bring cash in form of smaller Euro banknote denominations.
Crime, political instability and diseases are much less than in surrounding countries, wich makes travelling here hazzelfree.
The climate in the dry season (june-august) feels comfortable, especialy considering that it is tropical Africa. The islands abound with green lush tropical forrest with a lot of exotic fruits, fantastic beaches and some interesting sights.
The food is good especially the fresh fish and shellfish, as well as the multitude of excotic fruits and vegetables.
In Sao tomé Town I especially recomend the following restaurants/cafees : Papa figo, Camoes and Pastelaria Central,
You get much more from your visit if you can speak portuguese.
No Visa for 14 Days travel for EU citizens, no need for yellow fever vaccination certficate if travelling from Europe. There is four flights a week with TAP (portuguese) and one flight a week with STP (Sao tome air company)

Language barrier is too problematic.
Language barrier is too problematic. English is something that even restaurants have difficulty to understand.
Beaches are good. Can spend some lonely time at night without much trouble.
Brush up on Portuguese language very well or one may end up not having a good meal!
Loved to see the Boca De Inferno. The water gushing the rocks is awesome. Smooth roads give you the enjoyable drive towards the south of the island. The Great Dog Peak was worth a view!
Loved to eat seafood at the Ilyang Ilyang Restaurant with a peaceful ambience and English understanding staff.

The climate, the forest and the scenic tropical views were unmatched.
There are two main phenomenons regarding STome people: leve-leve and doce-doce.
The first is very welcome when on holiday but can become a problem when you want to get things going.
The second is more of a bittersweet feeling. It can be sweet when seeing it for the first time especially with children, but this turns to harrassment pretty quickly.
The owner, Nilda, is a genuinely nice and friendly lady who is very helpful. She coordinated with a money changer for our Euros to Dobras at a better exchange rate than anyone else. Our room was simple but clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was also very clean. Free street parking and strong Wifi are two pluses. We used this casa as our base to explore São Tomé and it was perfect. Lots of great restaurants in town and easy to explore the north, central and southern sections of the island from here.

We arrived at Casa Luis after a 6 days bad experience in a different location in Sao Tome. For this reason I’m advising you to always check other people’s reviews 😉. Casa Luis is very welcoming. Both mr Luis and his wife Catarina made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The location is in a very quiet and clean neighbourhood. They have a massive garden with a good size swimming pool. In fact, is almost a botanical garden, with lots of equatorial trees and herbs.
The location is great on the side of the town, you can walk to restaurants and markets easily. There is a rental car company on the side of the hotel that is very convenient. The front desk staff are very kind and helpful. The room was a good size. The central garden and pool are a good size and surrounded by mature trees and lots of birds. It's a nice space that the rooms overlook. We could walk directly out to the pool from the room.
The room I stayed in was clean and full of light. It had A/C, a small fridge and a TV. The shower was hot and with a good flow. The staff was very kind and helpful. For instance, they kindly sent me a taxi to pick me up when I was stranded at night a few minutes driving from the hotel. They were very responsive every time I communicated with them through the Booking website. The airport pickup was alright too.
This hotel is at a great location which is right across from the beach and walking distance from town. The owner and staff were very welcoming to us. On our last day it had rained heavily the previous night which caused floods so we were unable to go tour the southern part of São Tomé. The owner let us stay in our room for free until late evening to catch our flight!
Geovanni is a very welcoming host that speaks English very well.
The rooms are clean and tidy and offer everything you need. The breakfast the served is delivious and gets you ready for the day exploring São Tomé.
The location is right in the city center and allows you to explore everything by foot.
I have stayed there various times and always enjoy coming back.
Everything is new and designed with great taste. Clean, modern and 100% functional. Excellent customer service. Always a yes and a smile. Found friends you can rely upon at Kenito Hotel! And special thanks to Kenito himself, for being such a great host and taking a special interest in all of his guests. We really felt at home!!! We’ll be back soon.
I liked everything and everyone. Dona Helena was a fantastic host. Me and my partner could not ask for a better place. We were safe and blessed to be there. We thoroughly recommend this hotel without a doubt. The food was excellent and fresh. Thank you ever so much for having us. We are coming back for sure.
Praia is a great place for families, it has plenty of space for children to run and play.
Food is good, and staff are amicable and helpful.
The beach in front of the hotel is not very appealing, but you can easily take daily tours to different parts of the island to enjoy the more beautiful beaches.
The owners were very nice, they came to pick us up at the airport and help us to have a sim
Card. The hotel is very clean and the room is comfortable with AC and a bathroom. The breakfast is good with fresh fruit, juice and omelet on the roof well decorated. Very good value for money - we recommend!
The airport pick up and drop offs were a nice touch. We did two separate stays due to our trip to Principe. The second room in the villa that we spent 4 nights in was much better than the first stay.
This hotel seems to be where the diplomats and politicians stay when in town on business.
Casa de Ferias is an exceptional little place to stay in Sao Tome. A larger than life host, Bernilda and I had a cosy annex room to relax and write during a stressful month. The location is excellent and great Wi-Fi too. This is the only place to consider to stay in Sao Tome.
It’s a lovely property very well suited for families. Tiago and Joana are great hosts and very knowledgeable about São Tomé, they will make sure that your stay is very pleasant. We had a great time there. The breakfast was amazing, the best we had during our stay.
This was one of my favourite places in Sao Tome! The bungalow was so nice and the whole property is very beautiful. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was super good. I really recommend this place and will return when I come back to this island
Cheerful, friendly and helpful staff that really made our stay very pleasant. Rooms were small but clean and value for money was right. The coffee shop was good, too. The central location in downtown Sao Tomé was perfect too.
Breakfast was good. Eggs, bread, fruit. Host is super accommodating and friendly. Place is clean, and close to the airport. Super if you are going to Principe., though a hit of a walk (maybe 45mins) from downtown sao tome.
Very hospitable and friendly host, super kind to pick us up at the airport, help us to change currency.
Very nice breakfast.
Rooms have air conditioning.
The center of Sao Tomé is close and reachable on foot.
This is a international standard hotel in Sao Tome, providing high end accomodation and facilities for international visitors. It is outside the city centre, but a thirty minute walk will take you there
The location was really good, allowing quick access, walking, to the city center.
The food served in the hotel, the room view to the ocean, the surrounding gardens and landscape were all top.
