Beautiful, but geografically not very different from our starting cityin Vasa, Finland. Bars and restaurants were really good. Everything is quite easy accessable, and most places we visited were also wheelchair friendly.

Loved how easy the city was to navigate on foot and find your way from site to site. Handy signposts were great. I ate on the go - Subway & tried Sibylla for first time. Started off full of energy thanks to the solid breakfast provided all-inclusive at my hostel. Managed to squeeze in Umedalen Sculpture Park, Women's History Museum, Bildmuseet plus nearby giant clothespeg sculpture, Västerbotten Museum, Umeå City Church and the local cinema in my 2 day stay. Not bad! Riverside walkway also made for a charming saunter beside the frozen river. Sadly no SSL/Allsvenskan innebandy matches played for me to attend while there and the Guitar Museum was closed but makes for great reasons to return :)

Umeå is nice city with beautiful river side city center. Everything is at walking distance and there are many interesting shops and cafes at pedestrian zone. Shopping mall(s) are within short distance and accessible with public transportation.
At sunny day you can also have picnic at river side.

Umea is a wonderful nordic city with a small population. The city is generally safe and the people are generally welcoming and willing to assist especially when visitors seem lost.
The cost of living seems to be high compared to other places but this is understandable given the high incomes and standard of living in Sweden.
In general, it is a good and relaxing place to visit for a nordic city.

I love this beautiful, wonderful small city and will definitely be returning for another visit ♥ It's easy to go around exploring places because the bus services are very good (and the buses are really pretty with the birch leaf decorations :))
Gamla Fängelse - old Prison - is one of the nicest hotels i ever stayed in. It is very special, stylish and nice, rooms are - of course, its an old prison cell - small and have common use bathrooms and showerd, which are good an absolutely clean. There is a large common room an the groundfloor and the kitchen on the 1st floor can be used by guests.
A ggod Swedish breakfast is included. All staff are very courteous and friendly, The hotel is close to the riverfront and some 800m from the center of Umeå
The hotel is warm and cozy. The staff was super helpfull and friendly. The rooms was spacious. The meals were simple but delicious. There was breakfast, dinner and waffle hour. There is a high awernes to food allergies. The sauna is nice and the parking place very convinient. It has laundry service for a reasonable price. We had a great time here, thanks!
Very helpful staff, room was good size snd comfortable. Breakfast was simple and delicious, dinner was also very nice. It is just few blocks from city centrum and we could walk safely. It was also easy to find free and paied parking in the area nearby. I recommend this hotel.

Perfect location in the very heart of Umeå! A quick walk from the train station and the main bus station. The hotel is part of a larger building with several restaurants, a library, and even a movie theatre. The room was clean and stylish and comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of selections.
