We loved Gothenburg! Coming in on the bus from the airport, the city felt very large but in fact it was surprisingly compact and easily walkable. It’s a lovely elegant city with wide streets and beautiful historic buildings. It also has great shopping and some lovely restaurants and cafes, serving all tastes. We can’t wait to visit again!

I only stayed 24 hours in the city. I was unable to have a canal tour as too early in the season. greatly enjoyed Haga and the amazing huge cinnamon buns. Lovely central park and canals. Many trams to take you everywhere you need.

There are a lot of sites to visit around the area and a lot of good food to go through. If you are looking for a budget-friendly itinerary, save enough for your museum and site visits! Our three day itinerary was enough to explore the famous sites and walk around the city however it would be best to really take your time and breathe in the city. Our group enjoyed the Botanical Garden and Universium a lot, and if you are looking for an enjoyable visit, try going for Lisberg. The city is filled with museums that you can visit too and almost all of them are near each other. My group enjoyed walking around the city and enjoying the architecture and nature as a whole, if your into this then 3 days is more than enough!

It's a very pretty city, although somewhat spread out. I would very strongly recommend buying the 72 hour travel pass. I like walking around, but still felt it was essential. Not least because it's likely that you may be staying some distance away from the centre, owing to the cost of central hotels and apartments.

It's a really interesting city, architectural, but for a traveller, it was surprisingly expensive. I haven't been to Manhattan recently, but beer proved a hefty $8.
I wouldn't buy anything you don't absolutely need here. Definitely, not diner, shopper-friendly.
Public transport was mediocre and confusing (not foreigner friendly).
Mostly I was in the neighborhood of the Hotel Drakon for the film festival, which means it's just one giant construction zone, so that wasn't too welcome.
Everyone I encountered spoke passable English.

Gothenburg, a way too expensive, except this hotel.
Gothenburg, a way too expensive, except this hotel. How, I have no Idea.
Airport is "keep away" expensive, Scandic Landvetter good but unreasonable expensive.
So, to survive in Gothenburg, use Hotel Örgryte. They have garage, windows on all rooms, reasonable prices and great staff.

A nice and relatively cheap way to stay in Goteborg. The breakfast was amazing and a good bang for your buck. The location is good. Close to the park and in walking distance of the city center (+- 20 minutes) , although you can also take a tram if you don't like walking. The neighborhood is nice with plenty of little restaurants and supermarkets.
The parking was also very good and convenient.
It's still rather pricey compared to other European hostels, but you know things are more expensive in Sweden.
I had a wonderful stay at Comfort Hotel Göteborg. The room was impressively spacious yet had a snug and cozy feel, showcasing that clean and minimalist Scandinavian style. The location was also fantastic—just a quick 4-minute tram ride from Gothenburg Central Station, making it incredibly convenient. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Göteborg!
