Exceptionally helpful staff. Although access by car is not easy the staff always help to facilitate getting one's vehicle up to the hotel entrance. They also help a lot with getting parking.

This is a popular resort with Portuguese families who make up the huge majority of visitors here - not many Brits and not much English spoken. Big clean beaches - sea very cold even in July, Huge activity on the beach - these people play Basketball and Beach Volleyball all day and all night! Vast range of restaurants and other bars etc, and all very reasonably priced - did not feel we were paying the same prices we were paying in Porto itself.

Great beaches
Unattractive modern town with nice historic plaza but too many nondescript high rise blocks for my taste.
Inexpensive good value restaurants offering great traditional portuguese dishes

Povoa is a great city.
Povoa is a great city. The beach is wonderful, the people are great, and there is plenty to do within the immediate area (Povoa and Vila do Conde). Povoa is also very close to Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, and a host of other cool places. The beach is clean and nice.

If you would like to make a fantastic holiday in a local area near Porto. I would suggest this place. This area just 20 minutes from the Airport and the beach is beautiful. I felt the local shops and restaurants aren't expensive at all.

Povoa De Varzim is a bustling little seaside town with everything you could want as a visitor. Mostly popular with Portuguese so English visitors that like home from home (menus in english etc) might wish to think carefully but otherwise I would definitely return. Safe, clean and easily accessible by car or rail.

As a solo. traveller on a budget I thought the hotel offered excellent value. For those walking the Camino it is only five minutes off the trail and easy to find. The metro is also only 5 minutes making it a great location if you want an inexpensive way to Porto or the Airport. The husband and wife ( I’m assuming married) were genuinely kind and the room was comfortable and spotless. There is also an excellent supermarket right next door. For the price, this nice little hotel definitely deserves a 10!
We stayed at several hotels across Portugal and this one was one of the better ones. We actually stayed twice once at the beginning and again at the end of our trip 5 nights in total. The breakfast was grate and the location was perfect. There is a parking garage across the street and there are several stores restaurants and bakeries with in walking distance. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk down the street and both rooms we stayed in had city/ocean views. I would definitely stay again.
Room was super clean and comfortable. Hotel grounds are very nice.
It was quiet the first two nights but unfortunately we had some very noisy neighbors on the third and last night. Sound seemed to carry well between the rooms. We could hear music loudly late and night and early in the morning.
Breakfast food was with a good choice, though the eggs and bacon were almost at room temperature.
Some restaurants and grocery (ALDI) nearby. A laundromat (Best Laundry) is also close by.
Darling little apartment mere steps from the beach. Hostess Inês was waiting for us. The apartment features a fully equipped kitchen with a modern stove/oven, livingi/eatng area, very large separate bedroom, spotless bathroom with shower and washing machine, and electric blinds. There's a grocery store about 5 minutes walk, and it's just over 10 minutes to the metro station.
The welcome was really excellent, and although it is very small the hostel has everything you expect from a hostel, including a sunny lawn, just not in the usual layout!
Think more "capsule hotel", but with generously-sized very comfy beds and plenty of space. A very effective use of a small building.
There were few other guests so it was quiet when I was there.
Perfect for me. Nice little apartment 36 seconds from the beach, 30 seconds from the bakery and grocery store. Had everything I needed. Even coffee, tea, shampoo, detergent, everything. If I come back to this area, I with stay there for a week.
Sleeping above the crashing surf just upstairs from Bruno's family cafe with the best cocktails in Portugal. The washing machine and drying rack, plus a small grocery store just a few steps away, were added bonuses.
Modern clean hostel in a quiet street of Póvoa de Varzim. Perfect location right on Camino de Santiago. Good food and beer close to the hostel. Friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend to all pilgrims!
