Exceptional breakfast, wine cellar and spa facilities. Would have been great to have more communal quiet spaces, perhaps a library or smoking room to play board games etc.

Geographically Lamego is in a hollow.
Geographically Lamego is in a hollow. As I approached from the south in full sun in December you could see Lamego covered in mist, cold damp mist. It lasted for my 3 day stay and the sun was only visible as I left and approached the Duro River!
The accommodation was dia and the highlight was the cheerful taxi driver to took me out!!
Limited walking as two routes were terminated by loose snarling dogs!

Very pretty city, could have spent more time just hanging out and getting to know the city and way of life. If you are there just to walk to the top of the steps to see the cathedral, then one day is sufficient.

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the amazing view, the park like garden, the heated indoor swimming pool. The breakfast was great so was our room which was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the view from our private terrace was amazing.
There was no restaurant on site so that meant having to drive into Lamego for dinner. We had a car so that didn’t bother us.
We would definitely stay again.

Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios.
Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. Beautiful church built on top of a hill overlooking Lamego. Multiple terraces adorned with traditional Portuguese blue and white tiles lead up and down the property. One of the most beautiful places I have been to. I am surprised that the church is not talked about more often as a major attraction in the Duoro Valley.

We really enjoyed walking and visiting the towers, castles and churches it was like a travel back in time. Also because of the proximity we could take a boat tour in the Douro river. We drove from Lamego to Peso da Régua then by train to Pinhão to finish with a 2hrs boat tour.
Another unique experience was to drive on the N222. According to Avis who has crowned Portugal's N-222 as 'the road that offers the best driving experience in the world. From Peso da Régua to Pinhão.
With plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars food and drinks are there for you to choose. Is worth to know that after 22:00 most restaurants are closed but there are some like "O Cortelheiro" na rua das Cortes is open until 2:00am and you can have much more than a sandwiche.
The apartment is a new renovation in an old multi story school building. It is very central to all of the interesting areas in Lamego. There are USB ports next to the bed which we found very useful for charging phones overnight. There is a terrace a the back.
We had no trouble finding overnight parking by the bus station which is just through a lane behind the apartment.
After staying one night we decided to stay the following night as well rather than driving on further after a day in Lamego.
Sofia welcomed us as we drove onto the property. All the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The house we stayed in was perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen with open hearth was very unique and added fun to our night. The balcony had a beautiful view. The property has a wine museum and tastings available. Lamego was a short drive away with dining. Breakfast was nicely laid out and was very substantial with lots of options and local fair. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Muralha Charm House is nicely located at the heart of the older area of the Lamego City, literally against the medieval wall surrounding the Castle. The view from the exquisitely refurbished building top is amazing. The service is friendly and excellent and Zilda, the owner, hosts the guests very warmly. You fell at home! Good breakfast and many amenities and points of interest (cultural, monuments, etc) at walking distance.
This hotel offers many facilities that we unfortunately did not use due to lack of time. It is strongly recommrnded to stay more than one night.
Everything was beautiful. We liked very much the view of the Douro from the lovely terrace.
The size of the room was amazing. It was more spacious than any suit we ever stayed at.
Front desk tram was friendly and helpful.
The cleanliness and the friendly staff that made us feel comfortable the second we stepped inside.
The pool area with the view on the wineries which we can’t have in hotels located in the city center.
The size of the rooms is impressive for Europe!
Lamego is an excellent base to discover Douro as it’s close to many hikes, Quinta and national parks.
We loved the beautiful property, the wonderful breakfast served to your room with freshly made toast and still hot scrambled eggs along with all the trimmings. Our hostess, Isabela was a true delight. She was warm, welcoming and became an instant friend. I highly recommend booking for a relaxing trip to the Douro Valley.
Great views, newly rennovated, peaceful quiet location, loads of good wine in the area, lovely pool
We didn’t have a car but the hotel owners helped us by booking taxis so worked out really well
Glass of wine on check in was nice and always available to bring beer and snacks
Flawless stay 👏🏼
Luxury small boutique hotel with a personal service. Gorgeous setting, very hard to find a pool with a better view. Wonderful family business who go out of their way to make your stay special.
Well located to visit lots of Quintas and restaurants.
Just over an hours drive from Porto.
This was a delightful hotel with superb, amiable and attentive staff at every point of contact. Spacious public areas, a beautiful dining room with stunning views and a very decent menu for the inclusive dinner option. An outstanding and easeful experience - no qualification whatsoever.
The interior was entirely rebuilt with a very modern look. The fireplace gives it a homely touch and the AC in the bedroom makes sure you’ll always be comfortable.
The garage is super handy and the location guarantees peace and quiet, while being sufficiently close to Lamego.
Nice family-owned hotel close to the tourism office in the center of Lamego. Very nice staff and owners. Big room with small balcony. Old-fashion interiors but very nice and clean. Walking distance to restaurants, bakeries and interesting monuments to visit.
The view and facilities in the hotel were even better than the photos. The hotel's elevated position overlooking the river was superb and the pool area beautiful. The restaurant was also surprisingly good, we had one of the best meals of our holiday here.
Beautiful clean comfortable hotel. There is a view of the sanctuary in the distance. The people at the reception were exceptionally helpful and kind. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding.
Beautiful location and views. Close to Lamego which is a great place to be based. Hosts so helpful with info on walking, taxis etc. Responded to our messages quickly & helpfully.
