Rabaçal Nature Spot Cottage, hotel in Estreito da Calheta

Rabaçal Nature Spot Cottage in Estreito da Calheta provides adults-only accommodation with a garden, a bar and a shared lounge.

An amazing location with walks and the most beautiful views on the doorstop. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Worked really hard to vary our meals and accommodate my mostly gluten-free needs (I can only have a little every day). We stayed Monday - Friday and loved it. Never got the car out. It’s busy in the day but you know this when you book it. We had one night where it was just us in the cottage and so we were on the mountain on our own for the night - so quiet! Comfy bed, great shower.

Vila Morning Sun, hotel in Estreito da Calheta

Set 25 km from Girao Cape, 31 km from Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools and 34 km from Marina do Funchal, Vila Morning Sun offers accommodation located in Estreito da Calheta.

We enjoyed our stay for two weeks in Villa Morning Sun. Ligia welcomed us warmly despite it was late in the evening when we arrived. There was everything we needed like coffee, oil and basic spices. The kitchen is well-equipped including a microwave, oven, coffee machine and a toaster. The terrace outside overlooks the see, so it was lovely to sit there on the warm evenings.

Lovely place, great sea view, fantastic gardens, sunny and great sunsets. Close to the hiking areas of Rabacal and to the beach places of Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar. We also loved Joe`s Bar in Jardim do Mar and Pukiki in Estreito da Calheta.

Estreito da Calheta is very quiet and close to some gorgeous parts of the island- Jardim de Mar, Paul de Mar and Rabacal, but there’s not much in Estreito de Calheta itself. Also the roads are very steep, so probably a bit nerve-wracking for any inexperienced drivers. We had great day trips to Ponto Pargo, Jardim de Mar, Paul de Mar, Porto Moniz and Seixal. All very accessible from Estreito da Calheta. Calheta is nice- a long promenade and a man-made sandy beach, but very busy, so not our cup of tea. We did go to the beach one evening, our kids loved the play park and there was a lovely little rum bar close by for coffee or drinks.

    The place is really fantastic.

The place is really fantastic. Use an option for heated pool if you are coming in colder months. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating to every need. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with every appliance you can only think of. We also enjoyed the views from the winter garden.
