Completely misleading description, not on the Riverside as stated, no easy parking, extremely difficult to find. Room was extremely cold, no facilities, no kettle, no-one else in the property but not given a view. Listed as a luxury hotel, it is not. If I hadn't paid beforehand I would have asked for a huge discount. Dreadful place simply foul.
Hotel da Barrosinha is situated on the edge of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, just 2 km from Alcácer do Sal.

The location was a little off the path, but it is a great facility. What you see when you arrive can be deceiving. The property has a great history. The great room is very well executed and inviting. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy the space but had to rush off to catch a flight. Highly recommended.

Great location and views.
Areas are bigger than they look in the pictures
A nice and quiet place, with small nice restaurants.

Some bridges with different coloured light cross the Sado river, joining the two halves of the town, and give a touch of magic to the town during the night.
Two huge stork-nest on the top of the Cathedral complete a very suggestive picture of the town.

Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to spend a relaxing break.
Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to spend a relaxing break. There are numerous restaurants/cafes/bars. There are places of interest to visit, for those interested in history and archeology. Also just a short drive away there are some beautiful beaches and interesting towns and typical Alentejo villages. Good for walking and cycling.

Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to visit.
Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to visit. The narrow streets are great to explore. A pleasant walk along the Sado and stopping for coffee at one of the many cafes/bars is very relaxing.
There are many good restaurants to choose from and staff are friendly and helpful.

The tourist office is small, but helpful.
Next time it would be good to hire bicycles as there are designated cycle paths, with easy cycling.

The unusual and historic hotel over looking the town below...
The unusual and historic hotel over looking the town below with views for miles. The river with lots of cafes and restaurants long the prom. Out of season still plenty of places open and the only draw back was the walk into town, 10 mins downhill, half an hour to walk back up.
I really liked everything with no reserves, starting on the contact with Maria, our host, that was super easy going and clear about informations.
Then the location is perfect, the decoration very contemporary and fresh. Beds are very comfortable and everything was perfect in what concerns cleaning. I really felt at home!
One warm word to the staff that I had the opportunity to met.
Thank you Al’Casas do Sal, I can’t wait to discover your other space Casas da Horta in my next trip to Alcácer do Sal.
The hosts are very aware of the reviews. A lot of the issues in past reviews have been solved.
Very easy to check in.
The room is very generous in terms of space, it is excellent for a couple.
We also found the room very clean.
The washing machine was a great addition.
The location is great, right on the main avenue. Free parking right in front of the building.
Nice touch in having two floor towels in the bathroom, and a mop, since the shower glass door sometimes leaks to the floor.
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Rooms get quite warm due to the location of the town but there is a well working A/C in the rooms.
Breakfast in the uppermost story with a nice terrace overlooking the town and river.
Parking in front of the hotel was difficult in the afternoon (only two parking spots for the hotel that are also used by non-hotel guests) but very easy in the evening! Additionally, there are a lot of free parking spaces around town.
We were the only people staying on the property when we were there, so we had the place to ourselves. It was quiet, peaceful and in a very pretty location. It was our first night in Portugal, so a relaxing way to start out. Abundant parking. Fairly easy to find, and not a long drive into town to get some dinner. The breakfast area was quite wonderful and we especially liked the woman who prepared our delicious breakfast.
honestly, the best welcome ever from any hotel we’ve stayed in. We told the owner we were tours motorbike so she spent ages suggested some lovely areas to include on our route. we followed her suggestions on check out day and had a fantastic time. The property had a lovely communal patio with outdoor dining furniture, sofas etc, so it was a great chill out spot.
Fabulous reno of an old farmhouse. So comfy to hang in the great hall with all the various couches, chairs, etc. Breakfast included fresh eggs with room for improvement on the coffee front. Beautiful grounds. Didn't spend much time at the hotel, but you could easily spend 2 days relaxing here in the countryside. Easy check-in/out. I'd stay again.
Castelo do Arez is located very closed to Alcacer do Sal with a nice view on the lands and rice field.
It is ideally located to visit Comporta, Troia, Sesimbra and Lisboa on the west coast and even Évora in the east part.
Rita who is managing it warmly welcomed us and gave us very good advices for restaurants. She’s really taking care of her guests.

Very nice and helpful staff. Wonderful pool in an amazing setting. Unique experience staying in a renovated castle on the hilltop. Breakfast was also delicious with a wide variety to choose from. Easy walk to town for dinner. Views from the hotel were like a postcard.
Hotel is located within what was once a mighty Muslim fortress, with huge historical aignificance for Portugal. Accommodations were fine, though somewhat dated (80s or 90s?). Friendly and capable staff, and good food and service.
Very clean Hotel and very good breakfast (with high level products)
It’s very interesting what they can offer for dinner (a là carte or chef chiude)
Pillows are extraordinarily comfortable, rooms are wide.
Breakfast was great and looking out at the workers taking care of the vineyard while enjoying the food was an extra treat. The hotel area and room were spotlessly clean. Bed and linens were first class.
A delightful little village near Alcacer do Sal, Quintinha is the perfect place to unwind and get to know the real Portuguese lifestyle. Best views, great for walking, nice service by Joao.
Great location on river in heart of small town, excellent breakfast with nice river view, helpful staff, pleasant boardwalk along river to walk just outside hotel.
