Apartamento Cacao Changuinola, hotel in Changuinola

Boasting garden views, Apartamento Cacao Changuinola provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 47 km from Jaguar Rescue Center.

Exceptionally friendly host, good internet connection (50mb download, 5mb upload), location can be serviced by Caribe Shuttle. I took the shuttle from Puerto Viejo at 8am, arrived at the apartment around 11:30 and returned to Costa Rica using the 12pm shuttle from Bocas (pickup time was 1:30pm). There is a little supermarket nearby but I'd bring my own food next time. Visa run February 2023.

Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge, hotel in Changuinola

This collection of eco-friendly wooden cabins is located on Panamá’s stunning Bocas del Toro Archipelago.

Let’s start with the positives, we had accidentally booked one more night than we needed, whilst a refund for the would have been nice, the hotel did instead include our daily breakfasts throughout our stay. My partner and I are vegetarian and after highlighting the limited menu choices, the restaurant did provide a vegetarian pizza on one of the nights which was a welcome reprieve, and generally the staff are quite friendly but I’m afraid that’s where the positives end.

Every time that I go now the town in a certain way it's...

Every time that I go now the town in a certain way it's getting a little bit more indigenous if I can say so, so let me explain. In the past probably 8-10 years or so, the government is assigning property to the Cunas, that are the indigenous people of Panama, because at a certain point, they took it from them, so now Changinola is basically one of the areas where indigenous peoples are being "relocated". With that said, it's not a place that you're going to find a lot of museums or art or regular cultural activities nor a lot of things like that, but you can find places with great food options. It's more countryside area, from were you cam commute to other places like Bocas or close by áreas.
