Whangaparaoa itself is not a destination but the beaches and reserves are great if you enjoy the outdoors. Can recommend the Thai Windows restaurant- good food, good service and a great view. Shakespear Reserve is worth a visit if you enjoy walking. The views are lovely. Highlight for us was a trip to Tiritiri Matangi - ferry picks up at 9.25am at Gulf Harbour. Whole day on the island - a pest free reserve which is home to a wide range of native birds.

Just a delightful place to stay, the photos look great but the place is even better. Everything you need is there, and great restaurants close by. Beach a few steps away, wonderful fish and chips close by to take down to beach for a lovely evening. Have stayed twice so far and hopefully more times, would recommend to any couple wanting a very romantic place to stay, very accommodating hosts and very pleasant as well.

Stayed here to visit a friend’s party, perfectly situated for our needs. I found Whangaparoa to be beautiful and chilled, but unless you’re visiting Whangaparoa for it’s own sake, it’s a bit far out from most of the rest of Auckland, and quite a challenge if any traffic.

We loved how friendly the staff is and how welcoming they were. Our stay was just too short we would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the area as it's really beautiful and peaceful. There is a beach across the road and it's less than a 5minute drive to a few restaurants and takeaways. The traffic was easy to get around and theres a ten pin bowling and hoyts cinema not too far from the lodge.

    What a wonderful surprise.

What a wonderful surprise. Although now a suburb full of people, traffic and houses, the beachfront retains a wonderful feel of a bygone era with houses genly nestling into the sand. Eat at the Thai place in town - I am not generally a Thai fan, but it was the only place open on a Monday night and we were blown away by the service and quality of the food. We had sizzling pork and satay chicken skewers. Highly recommend it.

This is a place where you wanna stay forever. A gorgeous view at the ocean and rocks, a royal bed where you can sleep through the lulling sound of the waves, stylish design and a few minutes away from bars/resto/shop through the beautiful jungle path. The owners are amazing; welcoming and friendly, we had a great evening together. If/When we come back one day to Whangaparāoa, we'll definitely stay in this place again. Vicky & Wane, you are real super hosts! ★★★★★

What a perfect place to spend our last few days in New Zealand. The place was clean bed the most comfortable bed we slept in the entire time we were in New Zealand. Had some great food was totally relaxing just sitting across from the beach enjoying sunshine and watching all the activities going on. The people who own the place are right upstairs if you have any problems which we did not

Our friendly hosts greeted us and showed us our comfy and immaculate room. I felt very "spoiled" as lodge offers several choices for a yummy breakfast and coffee that is brought to your room each day. Or you can make a cup of tea and take it down to the lovely beach (which is right across the street). You can also walk into town (about 10 minutes) to some great restaurants.

Sandy and Glen were exceptional as they so welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The shower bombs were a nice added touch. The location is wonderful across from Little Manly Beach and a short walk to the village center for convenient meals. Sandy and Glen delivered a delicious breakfast to our room. A great stay.

Location is the best. Easy walk to the beach not far from the shops. So easy and central for exploring the Whangaparoa Peninsula. Very clean and tidy - one of the cleanest we have seen. Cosy unit - shame the weather was terrible so we never got to enjoy the deck. Lovely note and carrot cake from the host - made us feel very welcomed.
