It's growing quickly and enjoyed the ease of driving to our destinations. Excellent food and service at The Orchard we went to. Unused to so much traffic but I handled it. Stayed at Harbour city motor inn and was excellent for easy walk to cafes and city center.

    City centre absolutely dead.

City centre absolutely dead. No shopping like it used to be. Went to The Mount to shop. Tauranga city used to be great but now so many empty shops....very sad. Still good restaurants ...Macau, Picnika, 88 all good. Bus service pretty good.

Good roads, easy to get around (no problems using gps maps) Saturday markets, fresh seafood, close to shopping centre. Our function was catered and the food was amazing. Short walk for evening swim at the beach. Close to other townships eg: Katikati.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot.

The CBD seems alright, can be explored on foot. The highlight of our trip was Mt Maunganui. The Mount Hotpools was wonderful (pricey though), beautiful tiles, water and view. And the stretch of the Maunganui beach was just beautiful. We picked one far away from the centre (and towards Papamoa) where there was lifeguard, and truly enjoyed the waves for hours. It a great place for families who love spending time in the open water.
