The Host was so friendly couldn’t do enough for us from the minute we got there until we were leaving . Everything you could have needed was there down to makeup wipes ,the host really went the extra mile with all the little touches not to mention delivering the most stunning homemade breakfast to the room . Leah is an exceptional and friendly host. Everything was spotless and comfortable. It was a cold night with a frost in the morning but the heat pump warmed the room perfectly and we were very comfortable. Breakfast was varied and more than sufficient. We like a quiet location and Hopwood is the quietest we’ve ever stayed in, even quieter than home. We will be back.

We had a family unit which turned out to be a separate building with four bedrooms. It was huge. Quite basic, but great value.

This is a historic gem. Beautifully restored with period features intact. It was peaceful and the dawn chorus of the magpies was beautiful.
I recommend the books about the history of the family and the property.
The bathroom with a big deep enamel bath was bliss.

It was great to be staying at a rural B&B in such an attractive location. The host Leah was very welcoming and has obviously added personal touches of her own. Home baking and preserves are always welcome! We would love to return for a longer stay

Taihape is a quaint quiet country town. The locals are a friendly lot and like to have a chat. I didn’t venture out much during my 2 days there but when I did,it was relatively easier to find my way around. The only disappointment I had was there was only one takeaways open in the afternoon/evening.(Chinese),fortunately New Worlds is handy.

It was a great place to stop for the night. We had takeaways for dinner. Visited the giant gumboot at night - the spotlights were on and the kids loved it. We had breakfast at Brown Sugar, which was nice. Then we were on our way to the rest of our holiday.

A lovely little old town which we usually transit at on our way down south.
The little town has all sorts of amenities including good supermarket and a few good cafes with at least two very good restaurants as well. There are a number of motels within the town and situated along the main highway. There are two large petrol stations, including one large BP petrol station.
We believe that Taihape may also be a stop for the main-line Auckland to Wellington Railway... there is certainly quite a large railway station at the top of the town.

Taihape is a lovely place to take family and participate in the gumboot throwing and picnics in the park. Swimming in Rangitikei river is amazing your family will love it too. It has everything you need like New World, Mobil gas station and a Mac Donalds for the grand children. The ranges and the landscape is deep and rich with so much history.
Taihape is a small town and we were very happy to find a nice place to stay. Jolande and Daniel are great hosts and we felt welcome from the first minute. The accommodation is great, the bed is comfortable and there is a nice TV room and spacious bathroom. Breakfast (of our choice) was included and Jolande makes a yummy home-made sourdough bread.
In short walking distance are the famous gumboot for selfies and a fantastic steak restaurant, you will not regret to visit.
The Coachman has been a favourite of my wife and I over many many years whenever we travel North from Wellington. We have always found the motel friendly and operated by helpful staff. Close to town. We were very pleased to see that the great old 'Gumboot Manor Restaurant' which had closed some time ago, has found new ownership and re-opened as a great looking restaurant under a new name. It is only a couple of minutes walk from the Coachman
Good value for a budget motel in a handy location for a 1 night stop-over. At short notice, we needed to break our journey heading south via Palmerston North to Otaki, and the motel and Taihape were well placed for that. Facilities were basic but clean and comfortable, and as we were instructed to leave dishes for staff to clean, the lack of a kitchen was not a problem.
My Mum and I stayed at Hopwood as a halfway point driving from Wellington to Hamilton and it was exactly what we needed. Peacefully rural but just 10 mins from the main road with all the food options. Super clear and tidy, all the amenities we needed and lovely hosts to greet us on arrival. This will definitely be my go to for all future travel through Taihape.
Your service is really really pathetic. You should check with the hotel and check the dates that you have booked you have booked with hotel. You are taking the responsibility you should be 100% .booking. com should get better people to operate the business if you want to get the hhal call me tomorrow on 02108174377
You may not get the look of a modern-day hotel room, it rather gives a more classic clean family-style look. Our kids loved playing around. Rooms were clean, warm and some were spacious as well. Very reasonable rates. You will find a friendly and flexible reception too. Definitely recommended if you are here.
Who would ever of thought? A hidden treasure in Taihape.

Comfortable clean all conveniences.. location? Well it is Taihape 5mina to anywhere lol
Thank you Moria.
This apartment is extremely clean and tidy with lots of extras that I wasn’t expecting. The breakfast was amazing and the host Jan is very friendly and helpful. The property is very quiet and in a handy location. I definitely recommend this apartment in Taihape.
The White House has a pretty “garden room” with a view looking out over Taihape. There are comfortable chairs to sit in. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. Tne heat pump keeps the cottage cosy and warm.
We loved everything in our stay here!
The design felt like a boutique hotel,
The breakfast was great,
Having a tv nook allowed us to finally enjoying tv from the sofa and not from the phone as we are the the road.
The room was absolutely huge! Everything was clean and easy to use. We had to change plans at the last minute due to road closures to Napier, and this hotel was available. Right next to a very good restaurant.
Situated on the hill above Taihape it is an interesting drive up the hill. Moira sent us excellent directions. The view did not disappoint. The beds were super comfortable. A lovely quiet place to stay.
Well above average for a small town motel. Good kitchenette. Comfortable with friendly and helpful manager. Taihape was surprisingly interesting place for what was for us just a highway stop.
