    We loved the harbour views!

We loved the harbour views! There was also a good selection of cafes and restaurants, which all had friendly service and competitive pricing. We enjoyed our one-night stay and walked everywhere with ease.

Charming waterfront and very child friendly.

Charming waterfront and very child friendly. The pirate boat play area and splash pad is so nice for the little ones. We only walked around the centre up to the walkway bridge which present a marvelous view. As we are not trekkers, we only passed by Picton to proceed to Nelson from Wellington, and as overnight stop for the Interisland ferry back. There were many road closures when we visited. Perhaps next time, we will explore the surrounds.

A lovely little town with some fabulous walks. Stay a couple of days after getting off the ferry instead of just driving through. ( Although a little busy when a cruise ship arrived in port, but they are not there every day!)

The ferries between the north and south island arrives/leaves from Picton. You can kayak, dine or hit the Queen Charlotte Track. The track is a total of 70km with accommodation along the way. The views are stunning, the track well maintained, the lodges comfortable and offering great meals.

    Great place.

Great place. We stayed at Picton Campervan Park and it was a great walking distance to pubs and town. They have cabins that are absolutely spotless and so comfortable. The beach and foreshore are just alive with people, watching all the flash boats coming and going. Sitting on the veranda of the Waitoi Tavern, sheltered from the sun and enjoying conversation with friendly people travelling was just tops. And the meals at the Waitoi Tavern were value for money in comparison to the other pubs. Fish was so fresh! and plenty of it on the plate! We only stayed two nights, just wasn't long enough, already planning another trip!

Reception was busy at arrival and extra staff came to help so you weren't left waiting. Motel unit was a good size. Was very clean. Had everything you needed plus a full sized dishwasher, fridge/freezer. Lots of cooking pots, pans and utensils. Beds were comfy. Two couches to lax out on with a good sized tv to watch if you felt like it. Unit dedicated car park Great playground for children. Deck with table and chairs was lovely. I wouldnt hesitate to go there again.

The greeting with wine and a personalised cheese platter was a lovely touch to the luxurious room. We were also upgraded due to us being on our honeymoon which was a lovely surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed the room. This is a unique spot with a different vibe only having three rooms in the hotel, making it more personable and special. The breakfast room service was well worth it as well.

Very happy with the stay. I did arrive late on the first night and left early hours of the morning, as I only needed a pit stop to sleep before catching the ferry to Wellington - so didn’t really get to see too much during. Great location as it’s right next door to Picton. Had everything you needed and was good value for the money. Very clean and tidy.

Excellent location close to shops, restaurants and the ferry. Coral was very friendly and helpful with suggestions for walks and dinner suggestions. This is an historic building, not a purpose built hotel, so don't expect a huge room but ours was comfortable and all we needed. There was a light continental breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and yogurt.

Great people and great location. My host really helped with onwards travel and keeping luggage. Even gave me hand written suggestions for my travels in South Island. I booked because another travels said how friendly they were. Well, I endorse that. A fantastic change from hotels. Thoroughly recommend it. Wish I had stayed longer. Edward.

We loved the feeling of seclusion but only being a 20 minute walk into town. The hot tub was also a favourite with us! Max & Rhonda put such an effort into small, personal touches and it really made our stay! Would definitely recommend to anyone going through Picton.
