Front Count member was very helpful and friendly on arrival, offered to change my room which I was grateful for. I cleaner saw me having difficulty getting into my room and assisted myself which I was thankful for. Room was up to standard and comfortable. Seeing it’s over the Christmas prior your staff did a great job.

Capital Lodge Motor Inn, hotel in Petone

Set in Wellington, 7.6 km from Westpac Stadium, Capital Lodge Motor Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a restaurant.

Cheap and cheerful, very friendly staff, it’s basic but has all you need. Family of 5 were well contained, it was warm and cosy (electric blankets were a godsend on a cold Wellington weekend) and it’s very conveniently placed. We are repeat customers as you always know what you’re going to get. Recommended for those wanting a basic but comfortable stay, with excellent staff.

Great place to stay with interesting shops, local museum and proximity to beach. Loved the restaurants and cafes. Simply Grill Kitchen was great and the Le Saigon Vietnamese was awesome! Very close to all transport options - a great weekender or three day holiday to explore shops, beach walk and eat well!

Main advantage for us was it was easy to get to Picton ferries. Many nice eateries and shops on Jackson street. Good to stay walking distance. Main waterfront area also close but a busy noisy road to cross.

Petone is a waterfront industrial/residential suburb of Wellington with very regular bus and train services to the main city centre. Traffic is busy. Shops are mainly smallish and owner-operated. Several restaurants in the shopping street but I chose the Petone Club which is exceptionally large and appears well organised.

Beach is best for walks or play, water might be nice in summer. Great selection of places to eat. Indoor activities if it's raining, kids playspace, trampoline park. Regular train schedule to get into Wellington City.

overall i dont like the wellington area on a whole as too many intersections and markings on road not at all clear as to which lane goes where even though they are signposted but dont give enough warning as to swapping into which lane. I found it quite a nightmare at night.
