Absolutely beautiful set up. Super cosy with the little fire place. Immaculately clean, I can not fault anything with this property or with the host. Sally went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we got the most from our stay. I will happily return.

Great little village with heaps to do and great Farmers' Market.
We hired ebikes to do the bike trail from Matakana to Omaha Beach, stopping of at the incredible Sculptureum and then Farmer's Daughter for lunch.
Drinks at #8 Wired cellar door and dinner at Sawmill Smoko Room, breakfast treats and fantastic coffee from Ringawera Bakery, and brunch at Market Kitchen... and that was just 2 days' worth!

Great little shops, cafes and restaurants. A short drive from the town and you find yourselves in Tawharanui Regional Park - a sanctuary for native birds, with walking tracks and lovely beaches. We stayed there for a night en route from Tauranga to Bay of Islands - and would definitely visit again.

A lovely village of shops, cafes, beautiful countryside and so near the sea.
We had dinner at the Matakana Market kitchen which was lovely, good food, great wine list, and good service considering the COVID short staff issues.

Beautiful part of New Zealand - wineries, beaches, one of the best farmers markets, great restaurants and much more. A great place for a long weekend away, romantic stay, or even a family holiday near the beach.
Really enjoyed our 5 night stay here with our baby and 3yo. The accommodation was like a little house perched atop a vinyard (units 10 and 11 in brilliant locations with views). If you're looking for a relaxing get-away this is the place. There are so so many things you do around Matakana especially if you're into food, wine, art, beaches, walks and hikes. Plus the Saturday market was brilliant - and we bought lots of the foods and goodies on offer.
It is a tranquil spot, beautifully quiet. On arrival we were tired and the comfy armchair and footstool, along with the wide cushioned window seat were perfect for a rest. The shutters and blinds were very effective in both making the room dark for sleep and allowing in plenty of light in daytime. Matakana village is delightful. The cinema in particular is worth visiting, and there are several bakeries, cafes etc.
Location in Matakana is fantastic! Steps away from everything in the village yet private and secure. The space is compact yet big enough for two, totally spotless, and has everything you need thought of. Decor, finishing, toiletries & bedding are all high end. Loved our sunny deck to sit on with a wine. Thanks for your great communication, hospitality and generous gift of local wine and beer.
Kahu Farm apartment was perfect for a family weekend away. The bedrooms were extremely spacious and comfortable. The heaters provided were appreciated. The kitchen was well fitted out and we loved sitting outside on the bean bags in the sunshine enjoying our coffee. The location was great for exploring Matakana as well as the beautiful regional park at Tāwharanui.
The location was right behind main street. Great restaurants and shops in this quaint town. The bed was excellent. Room was super clean. BBQ grill worked great. Hotel owners were very friendly and helpful--gave us a great restaurant recommendation. Very welcoming! A wonderful place for families with kids' playground and trampoline.
We can not talk highly enough about Michelle's Place. It is simply gorgeous. Situated close to Matakana but in the country. Amazing views. The accommodation itself is very tasteful and the most comfortable bed we slept on for our whole two week trip. If it wasn't so far from home for us I am sure we would become regulars!!
We loved our stay at Low House! It was a wonderful getaway after our wedding to relax and rest, and low house was so peaceful, quiet and beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - we liked how close to Matakana shops it is located, the quite street, privacy and comfortable finishings. Thanks so much, Lily & Jason
brilliant, better than expected, they have thought of everything we could have wanted in a small property. we had a 1 bedroom on the edge with a deck that seemed to get a lot of sunshine, great for evening drinks. we also liked Matakana and the whole area
The rooms are clean. Matakana Hotel rooms provide the basic necessities, with a small kitchenette. Shades & blinds are provided for the glass front wall and the sliding glass entrance door. Coin laundry is available.
Marilyn and her husband were so friendly and helpful during our stay. They provided tips about the local area. The property is centrally located and you can walk to everything in the village.
It was so noticeable not having to have an air conditioner going all night to keep the room warm which most hotels you have to put up with - loved it - modern, comfortable, clean, spacious :)
