Such a beautiful lodge, well-designed and fits in the surrounding. quite warm with the fire. Location is great, can see the lake outside the window and the door. There are cute alcapas and sheeps in the neighborhood.

I have been going there since 1987 and it has never lost its charm. The lake is a beautiful turquoise colour. Mount John is a great place to see the Southern Alps. Mount Cook is nearby. There is a ski field in winter. It is an easy drive from Queenstown or Christchurch.

Great place to visit beautiful view.
Great place to visit beautiful view. Colour photos turn out fantastic due to lighting, lake environment colours. Sky at night best I've seen. Rented large house for our family gathering. In advance Contacted Four Square Tekapo they offered to cook chickens, make vegetarian dish, supplied all our food. Also made salads supplied breads, deserts, drinks. We were so pleased with the service this store provided. Perfect. Would of loved to stay longer.

Lake Tekapo is beautiful and very relaxing but only needs a couple of days to be seen thoroughly.
There's a pleasant, flat walk along and above the shoreline that's not too taxing for younger children and there are trails and hot spring pools for older kids/adults. There's also mini golf or ice skating, depending on what time of the year you go.
Shops are very limited and those available are overpriced - if you are staying self-catered, try to bring food with you or eat out. Thoroughly recommend 25 degree - they don't take bookings so you'll need to get there as they open (for dinner) or be prepared to wait/come back later.
Another downside is the inconsiderate behaviour of some of the other tourists - if you're trying to get any decent photos of the Good Shepherd church or stars, you'll need to go very early/very late or find a secluded place for night photos. Some people seemed unaware that this is a spot for limited light so had car headlights on full whilst sitting outside the church - which made our photographers trip a bit wasted.

Only stayed in Lake Tekapo because I wanted to walk on the Hooker Valley Track. It was reasonable accommodation a good hour away from Mount Cook. Loved our accommodation in Wee Mack and enjoyed going to the Hot Springs after our long fantastic walk to the Mueller Lake glaciers. Wanted to see the stars but it was either cloudy or the moon was too bright to get that dark sky/ full of stars effect. The Summit sky activity has to be booked at least one month in advance.
Newly built & open since September, 2022, this hotel was most notable for its very contemporary decor and amenities, such as a heated bathroom floor, heated bathroom towels, large shower stall, water conserving bathroom faucet, 4 USB charging outlets in the room (2 at the bedside), extremely comfortable king sized bed, phenomenal room views of Lake Tekapo and its surrounding snow-capped mountains, not to also mention the complimentary milk & coffee for the room. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful & professional.
This is probably my best stay ever in Tekapo, comparing to my previous stay in hotels/motels.
Location - very close to town centre
Kitchen - great kitchen with gas stoves and a big oven
Dining room & lounge - open design with a large dining table
Rooms - very comfortable
* Balcony - this is the highlight of this property. Instead of heading to the lake side, we could easily turn off the lights and sit comfortably on the couch on the balcony to enjoy the night and stargazing.
Lu Lu's home was a lovely place for my family of 6 to spend the night. The home was nicely decorated and felt warm, cosy, and welcoming. The main door was accessed by a digital lock which we appreciated so we did not have to worry about keys at all. We arrived late and left early the next morning so we did not get to fully enjoy the home but will definitely consider returning if we were ever back in Lake Tekapo in the future.
The Galaxy Boutique Hotel ticked all of the Boxes for us: Lake Tekapo views, spacious two bedroom rooms, a short walk into town, and a good continental breakfast. The hotel also goes above and beyond with plush bathrobes, Sky movies and landline telephones in the rooms to make lots of calls for booking activities and restaurants. The family owners were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Wonderful tiny house with an amazing view of Lake Tekapo. Modern and clean with well-equipped kitchen. Good internet. Shower was fantastic. Skylight above the bed was a bonus -- seeing the southern hemisphere sky on a clear night was fantastic. As others have remarked, do not use GPS mapping to find it, but instead follow the directions given by the host.
Nice basic stay but with a kitchen! The star gazing is unreal and it’s nice to have a porch to do that on. Heated bed, towel rack and bathroom are so nice. And it’s just a few blocks from Lake Tekapo! Super clean with all the necessities!
A perfect spot in Lake Tekapo. the apartment was immaculately clean, beautifully appointed and had a stunning view. Be prepared to say “wow” every time you turn the corner from the kitchen to the living area.
I stayed in a private room with an ensuite that was facing Lake Tekapo. It was easily the best view from a hotel room I've ever had. The room itself was simple and tidy but that view, indescribable
Excellent views of Lake Tekapo. Clean. The interiors have a very unique touch to them. The sunroom is definitely a highlight! Short walk to the town center cafes and shops right across the street.
The room, the location and the views were great. Large kitchen and living room were on the second floor, which offered beautiful views of the lake Tekapo. The mattress was soft and comfortable.
Great cosy apartment close to all facilities and sights of Lake Tekapo. Easy drive to Mount Cook NP. Apartment had all that we needed with nice balcony to enjoy a sundowner.
Hotel overlooks Lake Tekapo, with walking distance to the Church of the Good Shepherd. Big park in front of hotel & lots of eateries & a supermarket nearby.
