Fox Glacier is quite stunning, walk is relatively easy to first viewing point, we didn't get any further due to bad weather. Lovely eating places in town and a grocery store. Quite a small town so very quiet. We weren't there long enough to really explore the area

As a hiker I loved the lakes walks, and also the glacier...
As a hiker I loved the lakes walks, and also the glacier lookout walk would have been great but the weather on that day was just too wet to complete. The lake Matheson cafe is a lovely place after a hike or good breakfasts beforehand. The town is limited, so if I wasn’t a hiker I would only have stayed a night and moved on.

There are several interesting walks to the glacier, lake etc. The helicopter to the glacier itself can be booked easily from the town. There are a number of good restaurants within easy walking distance. A overnight stay is all that is required to see & do everything.

A very nice and comfortable motel in a spectacular surrounding nature in this cozy little street village . You'll find all things you need for a stay.
Very friendly owners , with their lovely dog Stella on patrol on the promises :)

We did the short tramp to Fox Glacier. It’s totally worth the effort.
It’s only 30min drive to Franz Joseph where we tramped the 5 hr Roberts Point track. Reasonably arduous tramp, but again totally worth the effort.
Great location, near by (small) town center and Minnehaha walk with amazing views of mountains. Staff was amazing specially Mathew who was extraordinarily helpful. He got our helicopter ride fixed, arranged our trip to Lake Matheson as it was difficult without car to go 6 km, do 5 km lake circuit (I covered all the major viewing points) come back with family (specially with 4 year old kid).He himself dropped us there and picked up.
It was most amazing stay outside our home. Highly recommend this for whosoever intends to visit Fox Glacier.
Location was perfect! Short drive to town and walking distance to a popular eatery, Betsey Jane. Room and bathroom were very clean. I personally loved the heated mattress topper. The staff was very helpful in guiding us into things to do and see around Fox Glacier. She also answered our questions about things to do in Franz Josef as we were driving there the next day.
On arrival Trish provided out of the oven muffins was nice with hot coffee.
Spacious was nice to spread out a little

Trish & Collin have an amazing history of the area able to assist with special places to visit.

An excellent "cabin", much better, more modern than many motel I've stayed in. A TV in the lounge area and another TV in the bedroom! Excellent bathroom and shower, excellent kitchen and facilities. All very clean. A bonus was the 7kW EV charger right beside my unit so I could charge overnight. It's the only public charger in Fox Glacier!
At reception, we were greeted by the wonderful Martin. He did not hesitate to take on the task of getting our bags out of the car and up to our room. When we checked out, his expert advice on how to best view Fox Glacier was invaluable and made for a truly unforgettable positive experience. We thank him again via this review.
We were so welcomed from the beginning of our stay and we felt right at home. We were able to use the kitchen freely to cook. The lodge is walking distance to the Fox Glacier tour. Free glo-worm tours in the evening — I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting, 10/10
We had a lovely stay at Ivory Tower backpacker Lodge. Our room and bathroom were very comfortable and spacious and our shared kitchen space had everything we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend this place to stay while visiting Fox Glacier 😀

Nice Motel in the small town of Fox Glacier. Very friendly staff. Room setting was fine with two bedrooms. Quite and a good place to explore the nature. Good restaurant just next door. Good price level.
