We were lucky to be almost the only ones in the hotel. The reception was closed on the day we arrived, but self check in was very easy if you follow the instructions. The kitchen was well equipped. After reading other reviews I knew exactly what to expect and was not disappointed. Yes, the beds could have been more comfortable or longer (beds are not suited for very tall people of 2 m height), yes, the accommodation might be in need for some refreshing, but the price performance is great if you are in need for one night layover with family.
There was a bit of a trouble with self checkout, but the property was easily reachable with a call to sort the issue out.

To clarify some of the reviews, this place is a well equipped camping/hiking hut, not a 5* luxury apartment. It's a small cabin, but with everything you need to make your meals, a TV with chrome cast, wifi and even a little dishwasher and heated floors in the bathroom. As far as cabins go, it's excellent for two adults and is nice and close to beautiful hiking spots.

The host made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Cosy, rustic hut with a nice common area with a fireplace. Tasty and filling breakfast with bread, various yoghurts, cereal, warm rolls, waffles and boiled eggs. Delicious coffee and juices. For dinner we had a lovely lasagne together with a fresh salad and home baked focaccia followed by a divine chocolate cake served with coffee. Dinner time was adjusted to fit our return from a longer hike - this was truly appreciated. Great service all way through. Can't wait to be back at a later occasion.

Perfect accommodation! Beautiful comfortable apartment, in a cozy mountain style. Very clean, fully equipped kitchen including interesting selection of tea and coffee machine with delicious fresh coffee. Nice details that made the atmosphere even better. We loved the sauna and the good heating - after we walked all day in the mountains in the snow. Very comfortable beds + quiet place = perfect for sleeping. Very nice owners, great communication. The surrounding mountains are beautiful, with a minimum of people, there is a possibility of various trips and a 5-minute walk to the supermarket.

The location on the shore front is stunning. The room was bright and clean, and reasonably spacious. Beds were comfortable and the TV allows for casting from your ipad/iphone.
There's a "recharge" electric car charger nearby which will be handy for EV drivers.
Staff were very friendly and quite keen to show off the hotel's history.
On site restaurant is expensive, but absolutely delicious. There are cheaper options in the nearby town of Ovre Ardal.
Checkin was very simple. I said my name, they gave me the key. Done!

We stopped here on on the journey from Bergen to Oslo, added a bit of time on to make the best of the drive. Decided to visit the Stave church in Borgund, that and the visitor centre were great but we didn't see much else.
