The restaurant was great. Food was delicious ( we could not finish as proportions were quite generous).
Rooms were very clean, plenty of charging outlets. Staff were very helpful and friendly!

Kaes and Brian were so lovely. They took care of us very well on our stay.
Hotel Spaander is located in a prime position in Volendam on the banks of the Lake Markermeer. This historical hotel dating back to 1881 has a truly authentic Dutch feel to it.

Edam is a lovely village and great base for visiting Amsterdam, especially for families. There’s not a lot to do in Edam itself, but it’s really pretty and all the people we met were very friendly. There’s a lovely sweet shop too, and the owner gave our kids a free treat each.

Edam is a great little village.
Edam is a great little village. The cheese market is a must see. Get there a little early to get a front row seat, maybe 15 minutes before it opens. The canals are great and I recommend hiring a boat to do a one hour self guided tour. There are only a few restaurants in the town. We went to Volendam for food which was great. It is a bit hard to get to and even harder to get back. No Ubers available in the evening and all the taxi companies were not even picking up the phone. We eventually were able to find a bus to get back.

With bus 314 from Amsterdam central station you’ll get to Edam in 30 minutes which you won’t even notice because you will be so busy looking at the amazing landscape of green grass fields canals farms typical Dutch houses. Edam and Volendam are very small and quiet places but there are lots of nice restaurants/pubs with live music, nice atmosphere, nice food. The shops close at 5 pm, around 6 everyone is having dinner. You get straight away the feeling of the countryside town where everything is more relaxed and people take it easy. If you are into nature you will be taken away by the bike/foot path to Volendam (3/4 km): it’s stunning! In Volendam you will walk the shopping street with amazing souvenirs on sale and at the end of the pedestrian path (marina park) you’ll find the bus stop for the return.
Get a nord Holland map and check out the rest of the region.
It’s unbelievable that these quality towns are just 15 km away from Amsterdam but the scenery changes radically. You get the best of both worlds in less than an hour travel!

Really good musical instrument shop selling hundreds of stringed instruments and accordeons. Excellent food in two very good restaurants - Strandbad and Juliana at reasonable prices. Expected cheese choice. Streets are very narrow and one way system is necessarily intricate because of canals. Cobbles make buggy-pushing hard work. House wines are good, but specialist wines vary expensive.

Try dinner at L’auberge Damhotel. Scrumptious food especially the salad with fresh grilled tuna fish and the burger!!!
Definitely spend some time in the evening at Monickendam.

Edam is a beautiful small village/small city with a very nice view everywhere you go.
We enjoy our walk in the calm streets and beautiful houses around the hotel, not to mention the local cheese shop and other tourists attractions.
A very nice place to visit.
I loved the decoration of the rooms and the entire Hotel. Was very clean, very nice location. Our room has an amazing view of the canal. Friendly staff. We didn’t eat in the restaurant because we did a late checkin, so the kitchen closes at 21:00, what’s in our opinion is too early for a Saturday. So we haven’t time to enjoy the restaurant but we had a very nice impression and we would like to return and have a dinner over there.
We liked everything, it was a super stay! The top floor apartment was very clean and had everything we needed to cook. The location is perfect. It was quite easy to get in/out of the building and we never noticed any noise from nearby.
Finally, the host was amazing with their fast and polite communication with us via message.
I can’t wait to visit Edam again with this accommodation :)
Beautiful, newly renovated, spacious apartment in a great location to explore Edam or to take the bus into Amsterdam. The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay. They even provided a baby travel bed for our 5 months old son. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
The property is beautiful and clean, with a beautiful view and have all necessities you could need during a stay there. The bed is also really comfy, we had a great night sleep there. The hosts are super welcoming and nice! We would definitely come back to explore Edam and surroundings a bit more. :)
Great location ,right on the canal and close to the bus station for buses into Amsterdam, Volendam, Hoorn, good local bar over the road via the underpass,
Breakfast was really nice and great coffee, lovely walk into edam and down to the restaurant at the lakeside ( 2km walk)
The room is really well furnished, the seesight is fantastic, peacefully, directly on the country! I loved it at sunset. Edam is the best village nearby, pictoresque but not very touristic and has an interesting beautiful museum. Our hosts was very kind and available.
Beautiful location, nice view from the Hotel room over the canal and excellent big breakfast, friendly staff and overall a lovely place to stay, not too far from Amsterdam with en excellent bus service to get to and from Amsterdam to Edam.
Large, beautiful, comfortable rooms. Has everything you could need including a washing machine. In lovely and quiet Edam, but very close to Amsterdam by car or bus. Diana is lovely and answers questions quickly. Felt very welcome.
Very pleasant and quiet accommodation on the edge of the town of Edam, very pleasant owner, close to the sea and the canal, very good restaurant within reach. Ideal accommodation for a stay for two.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the location in Edam very much. It's an older/traditional building but very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the live music as well.
Really nice garden! House is close to Volendam & Edam and the view from the room on the topfloor is amazing. Breakfast was nice and we can choose between several sandwiches
No buffet breakfast, and the two ultra thin slices of Edam cheese appear minimalistic at first, but all in all more than enough to carry you trough the day.
