We were there for snorkeling, and Luengoni beach a few minutes drive down the road was excellent - a very wide range of fish species, turtles, water snake, reef shark and octopus. Snorkel between the two islets a bit beyond the grotto, not at the south-east location that's marked on Google maps.
The reef over the road from the hotel has very interesting limestone "canyons" to explore and a good range of fish species, though not plentiful. Reef sharks there too.
The room was comfortable and important things worked - lights, fridge, fan, aircon, microwave etc.
Food at the hotel restaurant was of ok quality and large servings; very friendly staff.
Featuring a garden, Lifou Chez Qaeko provides accommodation in Lifou. This holiday home features free private parking, luggage storage space and free WiFi.

Our one-week stay in Lifou with Christoph and Diana was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and hospitality made us feel right at home.
Christoph and Diana went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. They cooked for us multiple times using , provided fresh fruits and vegetables every day, and even shared a beautiful Christmas dinner together. Christoph also took us on a fantastic boat trip to Kiki Beach, adding an extra touch of adventure to our visit.
The house was perfect for a longer stay, and we particularly enjoyed the frequent barbecues and the sense of community they fostered. It’s not a 4 star hotel but the attention to detail and the genuine effort they put into looking after us made our trip unforgettable. Definitely great to learn more about local customs and culture.
If you’re planning a visit to Lifou, I highly recommend staying with Christoph and Diana. Their hospitality, local knowledge, and generosity will make your experience truly special, especially for longer stays like ours.

The property is very unique. The living space is half outdoors. It’s very comfortable and memorable. Jean (host) was extremely accommodating. Central location on the island.

Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 18 reviews
This place is simply spectacular. We stayed one night mid week in late June and it was paradise. Jokin Bay, Chateaubriand Bay and Kuengoni Veach are a must. Simply gorgeous!
Oasis de Kiamu seems to be the place to eat, as there are few other options we could see. There are supermarkets dotted around which take card payments and banks to withdraw cash. The roads are good and it's easy to drive around the island in one day.
