The breakfast is very delicious and plenty of options. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had some great fresh fruit waters and juices made while we were there. We loved that there was many options for lunch and dinner on the street right behind the beach front. We also had a chance to take a yoga class at the hotel and we really enjoyed it. Additionally, the pool was very nice in the evening and there is a bartender available to make you pretty much any kind of drink, she even made some popcorn for us and that was super nice and appreciated.

The hotel is centrally located, so restaurants and shops were all nearby. The beach was just across the street, so easy walk. The employees were all very professional and friendly! Always asking if I needed anything. The hotel room was perfect for being cozy, clean, spacious, and there was even a mini fridge for my drinks and snacks. Finally, there was more than one pool to relax and enjoy myself. I will be staying at this hotel every time I visit!

A sweet, unpolished beach town. There are no huge multinational hotels on the beach, just low-rise local hotels and apartments. The strip along the beach feels relaxed, calm and slightly down-at-heel. It's easy to explore on foot. As two solo women travellers, we felt safe throughout our stay, though we didn't leave the tourist area. The beach itself is huge and very long, with incredible surf waves. There is a small beach area at the north end where it's possible to swim, but the waves are still quite big, especially for children. There are lifeguards all along the beach. There are nice restaurants right on the beachfront, all serving the same simple food. We only stayed two nights - I think at least four nights are needed to really relax and get used to the pace of life here. There are also several excursions nearby which would have been fun if we'd had more time!

A huge long beach, Zicatela is a lovely place but will change very soon with all the development and construction going on.
Already lots of bars, restaurants, shops and hotels, but still relatively chilled at the moment.
Beware of what you carry, police search anyone they can on the beach to extort money!!

Even if a relatively small town the neighbourhoods are very different; Centro where the hotel is, more local people, Bacocho (a bit more hipster was my impression), Zicatela the touristic part with a lovely beach and Brisas de Zicatela where its mostly backpackers and surfers (its just off Punta Zicatela where the best waves are)

It grew on me. I didn't love it at first.
It grew on me. I didn't love it at first. I think its more suited to younger people than people in their mid 40s + who have already done the backpacking thing. Also I live on a beautiful beach in Australia so it's hard to be impressed by grey sand of Zacatelas beach.. However Carrizalillo beach was beautiful. I recommend visiting that beach while you are there.
I felt like a bit of a sellout as Puerto is not the real mexico, there are more Australians and Americans there than Mexicans it seems. So if you want an authentic Mexican experience you should go to Puebla or Mexico city, but if your looking for a chilled vibe on the beach then you will probably like Puerto.
You'll find better food in other parts of the country also - Oaxaca city, Meixco city, Puebla etc.
It's very hot there. but there's nothing much else to do than hang at the beach.

Overall was great trip.
Overall was great trip. The town feels more international compared to other places I’ve visited in mexico, it lacks that authentic Mexican feeling. The hotel was great, tucked away from the Main Street, very peaceful.

Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada.
Best falafels and hummus et El Sultan on the Rinconada. Best whole bean coffee as well as cappuccino and cookies at Binisa Cafe. As expats living in San Agustinillo, an hour away, we find things in Puerto that we cannot find in San Agustinillo, Mazunte, or Zipolite. We found some really excellent sharp cheddar cheese at Super 69 grocery on the Rinconada, cans of white meat whole tuna packed in water also at Super 69, bought beautiful Talavera tile for our bathroom at the Talavera store on the Rinconada, and picked up health food products like chia at one of the many small health food stores in Puerto that sell bulk goods.

looked very nice until I contacted the first rude person at the front desk , hands me a bunch of control devices and points to the stairs . I found my room , figured out the A/C but the TV was a complete joke . I went down to the front desk twice to ask for help , all they told me is “ no Cable , Roku “ well I’ve never used Roku especially not in Spanish , they didn’t care a bit . it’s important to me to have a TV on to sleep , especially with the noisiest road in Oaxaca right outside my window .
There are many negative reviews about this property. I disagree. It’s a budget hotel with a budget price—hard to find along the Pacific coast. True there is traffic but I was on the ground floor and it was no problem. True the pillows aren’t the best but ok. Fan was fine. Didn’t need AC. It was clean, room service every day, nice shower, lady at reception was very nice.
The laundry was inexpensive. Was a god send for me. Best value for the price I have found along the coast.
This hostel is fantastic for solo travellers! I had been travelling Mexico for 3 months and this was the first place I immediately made friends with everyone staying there. The owner created a very welcoming atmosphere and organised group dinners as well as just chilling out with us in the evening. This made it very easy to sit down and get to know everyone. I really appreciated it as I found the other hostels lacked this atmosphere. The place was also very clean and comfortable.
The most comfortable bed I have slept on in Mexico. It is bigger than a single.
The linen smelt so fresh & clean.
The staff are all lovely
There is a big market just around the corner for food or meals.
The food in the restaurant was great &
Great value for money
The hostel was very clean
There was always toilet paper in the toilets, which was greatly appreciated.
The dorm room was great for sleeping. Dark & very quiet- could not hear outside noise.
The staff, the beautifully decorated rooms and rooftop hammocks to relax in. This boutique hotel has such a relaxed and warm, welcoming vibe. I first stayed in Casa Beu in January and had to come here again for my second visit to Puerto Escondido. It's close to the main street in La Punta but far enough away for a quiet night's sleep. I almost don't want to let the secret out on how awesome this place is ;)
This historic, family-owned hotel in the heart of Puerto Escondido is one of kind -- a place built with each detail in mind to make it magical. It's comfortable, very clean, and in an ideal location, making access to beaches and restaurants easy. They helped us with local knowledge to help us have a great trip to this area. We definitely hope to be back and stay here again!
Roberto is a very kind man who makes sure you enjoy your time at La Punta. It is right at the beach. What I liked most is that he created everything himself, even the pool, which gives the place a lot of character. It is a very laid back atmosphere and you have no obligations. For me it was the most down to earth and relaxing stay in the past three weeks that I was in Mexico.
Villas Carrizalillo is a lovely hotel. The facilities are well kept and the location is perfect. The staff were helpful at all times and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. In terms of location, the view over Playa Carrizalillo is beautiful and the other beaches in Puerto Escondido are easily accessible from the hotel. Highly recommend!
Honesty, I loved everything given the price! The host was so responsive (literally within minutes), helpful and kind. The facilities are clean and comfortable, but I was especially impressed with how quiet it was given its very central location. Hands down one of the best accommodation in my travels in Oaxaca so far! Amazing value for price!
It is awesome to be able to use the swimming pool when you come back from a day at the beach (late) in the evening. Also, we flew out late at night to Mexico City, and we were very grateful for the opportunity, after checking out in the morimng, to use a bathroom to shower and freshen up before leaving to the airport.
The location is amazing, super safe and quiet area. The breakfast was great, the beach club is amazing, private and super beautifully done. We loved our stay in this hotel. The hotel runs a shuttle from the hotel to the beach hotel, but it’s also very close by walking. Really amazing place to stay in Puerto Escondido.
The hotel is new, well maintained, flawless staff, always clean and the rooms were cleaned every day. Clean pool. Huge rooms and beds, very comfortable also. Big balconies. We liked that it's adults only, was very relaxing having no kids around. All in all, the best hotel that we stayed in while visiting Mexico.
the room was great, with a straight view from the balcony to the ocean. however being so close to the bars and clubs it was quite loud at night from thursday to sunday. the pool is gorgeous and always at perfect tempature. although very little staff spoke english, we were in mexico so it's expected!
Really nice place to meet other open minded Traveller. The atmosphere is amazing and you can make friends really quickly. The hostel and the pool were clean and the best place for our time in Puerto Escondido. Thank you so much
My experience was an exquisite taste of Puerto Escondido. It surpassed my expectations. It is a beautiful hotel and I highly recommend it for people who want a high quality venture.
