Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis
As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.
The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.
The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.
From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.
Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

I have had the opportunity to visit various cities in the USA, Europe, and South America as an architect. I have always been interested in learning and discovering the cultural aspects of each place that I visit.
Mexico City didn't surprise me with its ancient indigenous culture or modern architecture, but its safety did. Being a Latino who knows where to go and where not to go, I had no issues walking around the downtown area during both day and night time. Although there were some homeless people asking for change, they didn't harass me when I said no, they even wished me a good day.
I was very pleased with my visit and it overturned the social concept that people from the USA might have about the Mexican people. As a Colombian immigrant living in Houston, Texas, I can say that visiting Colombia is similar to visiting Mexico City. The problem with visiting Colombia or Mexico City is that you might fall in love with the people and their culture.

Chapultepec Park was my favorite destination because of the many museums and the forest setting. The National Museum of Anthropology alone is worth a trip to Mexico. But the National History Museum is a close second. You might want to do them on separate days. We used a lot of Ubers during our stay. Our hotel was in the Historical district, which was okay but maybe not the best location. An area near Chapultepec Park would have been better.

It was a great city. Getting around was easy.
It was a great city. Getting around was easy. Used uber, walked and used city buses. Favorite part is we stayed the first 4 days near zocalo and it was great visiting all the beautiful churches. Last part of trip we stayed in Roma, but I preferred zocalo area. We ate mostly street food and it was amazing.

Mexico city has a lot to offer.
Mexico city has a lot to offer. Teotihuacan is a must see as well as Museo nacional de antropologia, the main museum of the country. Some areas of Mexico city are very pleasant to visit as is the area around Paseo de la Reforma, Coyoacan, San Angel. The historic center is worth a visit. The most problematic is moving around. Mexico city is huge. It has metro, but there is a big but - almost no escalators. When there are quite long passes to change metro lines (1 km) they have 3-4, sometimes more long and steep stairs. Very tiresome. Impossible for elderly people or those with small kids, particularly in rush hours from 3 to 8 p.m. Taxis as alternative may be expensive because of terrible traffic jams and long distances. The only practical choice - to use Uber for ordering taxis. Some museums, like Frida Kahlo require advance reservations only by internet, not possible to buy tickets on site.
Where should I start : Best location in Polanco ! Literally a couple of blocks to most restaurants and Chapultepec Park for the museo National de antropología and others. Extremely friendly and helpful staff - great breakfast with outstanding service . Intimate and low key property - you would never know it’s a hotel from the street . No. 404 where we stayed has an immense terrace - interior is well appointed - comfortable bedroom and smallish living room but who cares . It’s an outstanding jewel of a hotel and we will return !
Everything. The hotel is super clean and the staff very helpful. The room was very quiet and the bed was spacious and comfy. The reservation included a nice free breakfast. I like the location because is very close to Alameda Central and several restaurants. I've stayed in many cheap hotels closer to Centro Historico but none met my expectations. I'll come back for sure.
Excellent boutique style hotel; typical Polanco architecture; nice patios; great atmosphere. Just off one of the most prestigious shopping streets in Mexico City; walking distance to Chapultapec and National Anthropology Museum; lots of bars and restaurants around; a vegan diner right beside the hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff; easy WhatsApp communication.
The location cannot be better, the hotel is in the heart of Mexico City, it is one little Block from Monument of Independence (Angel de la Independencia). if you are tourist this hotel is perfect for you.
The hotel is a little old, you can see the floors and ceilings in the rooms with some details.
Beds are good to rest as you will stay in at 5 Stars Hotel.
Staff is very welcoming from front desk to restaurant and housekeeping. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood with access to 2 barber shops, a 24 hour pharmacy, 4 taquerìas, and a huge mercado right across the street with a laundry service steps outside the main entrance. Also, the daily rate is one of the best I found near La Condesa.
Big and comfortable room, quiet and well equipped. We had a room on the 9th floor with a great view on park and castle. Staff were very nice. Haven’t tried breakfast or gym, nothing to say about them. Location is great for those who want to see a lot of the city - the hotel is conveniently located between Polanco, Roma and across the park.
The room was like a little apartment with a small kitchenette and good to cook some small things like breakfast and coffee. Bedroom was comfortable and there is a big bathroom. Hotel is perfectly situated in zona rosa with a lot of restaurants and bars in walking distance. It's also a very safe area in mexico city.
We needed a place to sleep close to the airport as we flew into Mexico City internationally in the evening and had another flight the next morning. This hotel was perfect for this purpose as it's right in the terminal, it was easy to access and the room was spacious and bed comfortable.
The location is great just outside Mexico City Airport, with free shuttle bus taking us there from the airport. We couldn't enjoy the free breakfast as we had to leave early for our morning flight, but the hotel packed our breakfast, even though small and basic, it was wonderful.
Convenient place if you have to stay over for one or a couple of nights near Mexico City Airport. Also easy to get into town from here, a metro station entry is in front of the hotel, or get a taxi. Frequent free shuttle service from and to the airport (both terminals)
Excellent location for business travelers with their meetings in the area. It is a long way from Polanco or Reforma just take that into consideration. Hotel is good, breakfast is solid. Personnel is very attentive and fast. Well organized as a whole.
The boss is very nice, because I wanted to take a hot bath, I told the boss that there was no hot water, and he tried his best to help me get hot water. The location of the hotel is also very good, near the airport, very satisfied with the experience
Great location, helpful staff, rooms are clean and well kept. There is nothing special in the hotel but at the same time there is all you need when visiting Mexico city. Close to cheap eats and main streets. Zocalo square is just minutes away.
The hotel is located in one of the best areas in Mexico City and was walking proximity to some of the best shops and restaurants in Polanco! Rooms were also super clean and staff very helpful!
