Maafushi was the last stop on our 9-island-hopping Maldives trip, and after staying on much quieter local islands, in small guesthouses, Kaani and Maafushi was a shock to the system! It's your typical hotel affair, lobby, buffet restaurant, very friendly atttentive staff, branded sun loungers and parasols. The breakfast was good, and our room was great with a modern bathroom and small balcony overlooking the island. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was very good, even when we did change our mind about our speedboat time! Maafushi itself is very touristy, neon signs and cheap souvenirs, high rise buildings and building work going on everywhere, water sports vendors line the road, restaurants were twice the price and half as good as other local islands, and the call to prayer was replaced with house music and Bob Marley. As one of the first local islands opened to tourists, it has that "Thailand backpackers from 20 years ago" feel to it which is exactly what we were there to experience. Kaani is one of two big chain names on the island, both with multiple hotels, and their own shops, restaurants, water sports, and excursion vendors. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend if you're looking for a Maldives hotel experience at a fraction of the cost of the resorts with lots of holiday activities to choose from.

We had an excellent experience at Arena Beach Resort, thanks to Ms. Hazel at the reception. She truly made our anniversary and honeymoon special, even though we stayed for just one night in the Maldives. We were warmly welcomed with a beautiful bed design, and during dinner, we were surprised with a cake and a lovely ‘Happy Honeymoon’ greeting. These thoughtful touches made our stay unforgettable.
However, there are a few areas for improvement. Before our arrival, we had clearly expressed our interest in visiting a luxury resort, but unfortunately, we weren’t informed that this would no longer be possible after 10 am. Since we arrived just after 10 am, there were no rooms available yet. While waiting, a gentleman at the reception kept pushing the hotel excursions and seemed to divert our questions about room availability. We ended up leaving the hotel to explore and fortunately found a private tour that accommodated us, even though it was almost 11 am.
Additionally, there were no lifeguards on the beach, so guests who aren’t confident swimmers should be cautious.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay on Maafushi Island, and we’re grateful to Ms. Hazel for her exceptional hospitality. If you’re booking at Arena Beach Resort, be sure to ask for Ms. Hazel, for a wonderful experience."

Staying in La Isla Tropica was the best experience.
Rohan was a really great person who booked all our excursions and gave us a detailed tour of the island. He also booked all the transport jettys for us.
The room was clean and shower had an instant geyser.
The breakfast was nice.
The manager gave us a discount on our stay because of one of my friend who could not come.

I have never seen cleaning the room twice a day before! Although we’ve been to lots of hotels. the Staff is amazing!! always ready to help and make us happy and pleased❤️ we had a family room and it was specious, very big and comfortable, with three rooms including one living room, microwave and fridge, two bathrooms, ACs and TVs in every room. Channels amazing especially for kids. big choice of cartoons. every room had a balcony with table and chairs. sunbeds and umbrellas were provided by hotel.
we had more than enough drinking water bottles daily in the room.
Food was great!! kids loved the burgers😂😍
Special thanks for keeping us and our luggage in the hotel after the checkout. they gave us not only a space for bags in reception but also a small room to rest and shower ❤️
in Short, the property is highly recommended! 🫠

Please ensure you book inclusive package as food and drink outside of the package will be expensive. Take mosquito repellents and your own shower gel, shampoos and conditioners.
This is because the provision of shower items is not good at all. (They might as well say, shower items not provided).
If you want clean rooms and showers, do NOT go here.

Biyadhoo is a perfect place for people who want an amazing Maldives experience at an affordable rate. The food was incredible. We gained so much weight in just 4 days.
There was white sand, clean sea chairs to relax on, wildlife, and incredible staff.
We also went for a beginners scuba diving experience and the instructor Rosa was beyond kind, patient, and wonderful. We had the best experience ever.

We love this place. We visited 10 years ago and it hasn’t changed a bit. The facilities are basic but clean, the staff are super friendly, the food is excellent, the location is beautiful and the snorkelling is out of this world!
