Weligama is small town.
Weligama is small town. We lived little outskirts in rural area, Weligama is cheaper than other distinations such as Mirissa nearby. However if one needs to party and need restaurants then you cannot find many at Weligama.
We were looking for quiet, relaxed and comparitively cheaper 15 days break between our two months vacation and Weligama helped us with same. Mirissa beach is more better and lively than Weligama Beach. However small section of beach near Cape Weligama resort via Kumbalgama junction is quiet and peaceful.
Having your own or rented vehicle is definitely plus point or else one has to hire Tuktuk to Mirissa which may cost 1000-1400 LKR To and Fro dependinging on your bargaining skills.
Once can definitely go to both mirissa, unwatuna and galle from Weligama on day excursions.

Weligama beach itself is very crowded and not very clean; however, there are amazing and practically empty beaches just a few minutes away. Options for restaurants like almost everywhere is a hit and miss, but I did find amazing and varied options for very good prices.
If you want to experience a true Sri Lankan vibe, visit this place with a panoramic view of the ocean that will wake you up in the morning and lull you to sleep in the evening. Also try an endless variety of smoothie bowls, milkshakes, fresh see food or egg shakshuka in the restaurant on the roof. The place is just a short scooter ride from Weligama beach, Jungle beach and many others, but at the same time it is very peaceful, authentic and friendly. I believe that it will become your cozy home for a while, just like it was mine.

I loved this accomodation right away. The house is completely new, I was the first guest and it was really wonderful. I have tried many stays in Sri Lanka and this was definitely the best. During my stay I had a little accident and could not walk and the guys from Ru took care of me. They were very kind. The house is located in a very quiet place, in front there is a small store in case of need. In 5min you are in the center of Weligama, great location. I highly recommend this accomodation.

The hotel area is def worth visiting for everyone - singles, famillies and surfers (swell is great!). Not to mention their Pokirissa restaurant with the best curry lentli soup that is definition of Sri Lankas genuine flavour as its best!
After staying at a few hotels in Sri Lanka, this is definitely our favorite one. The owners are the friendliest people, they went above and beyond to help us with different requests and make our stay feel like home. The room was very clean, spacious, and had everything we needed including strong AC and a safe box. The hotel also has a shared kitchen where we were able to heat up leftovers. Cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be coming back!
This hotel has several rooms, the room was clean. We had all the facilities of a house at our disposal, the kitchen and all the tools for cooking were available. It had a refrigerator and a washing machine. We had dinner with the residents of other rooms at the dinner table and talked together. The atmosphere of the hotel was very intimate. You can easily live in this hotel for a long time. The location of the hotel was also suitable.
The staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing! The manager was so helpful. He organized surf lessons, whale watching for us and even took us to a beautiful tea factory, which was amazing! We loved the location and everything about our time spent in Weligama. I would definitely recommend this resort for any traveller. You will be very pleased with your stay here and the amazing staff that you will meet.
This was very close to a perfect staying. The hotel is located on the beachfront and the adjacent restaurant serves some of the best food we got in Sri Lanka. The rooms are big and clean, very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is superb, so are the many dishes we ordered while staying there. The owners and staff are all polite and available. Everything. We had an amazing vacation. The best was the stunning view over the beach from our balcony. The room was very big, loved the rainfall shower. The breakfast selection was the biggest we have ever seen and every single dish was delicious. Dinners were over the top too. We very much enjoyed having the surf spot right in front of the hotel.

Sleek, modern design that offered incredible views over Weligama Bay from both our room and private balcony. We only stayed for one night before we headed home from our two week honeymoon in Sri Lanka but didn't want to leave. The food was excellent and the bar/pool area by the beach was lovely.
