I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway.
The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights.
What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home.
Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes.

The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . Overall a very pleasant experience .

This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. The local town is not a tourist town but it's great to wander around looking in the local shops.

This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari.
Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear.
Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2.
Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck.
So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive.
Basically disappointed ☹️

Very good base for safari to Yala or Bundala parks. I' went to Bundala as I've never been to park with big wetlands and I think it was a great choice. We've seen numerous types of birds, lizards, monkeys, jackals, mangooses, bufallos, crocodiles and also few elephants😊
I didn't stay in center of Tissa but still was able to find nice restaurants, like Smoky Kitchen (recommended).

Nehansa Resort was in a comfortable location in Tissamaharama town with easy access to nearby places like Raja Maha Vihara. The room was comfortable and well ventilated. Due to the location and mosquito menace, they also had a net covering the entire bed, which made for a comfortable night's sleep. They were also kind enough to arrange the Yala Safari at a nominal price for us. The icing on the cake was the tender coconuts they gave to us on arrival, and the deer they were grooming behind their resort.
We enjoyed a lot our stay in tissamaharama. The room was quite big, clean and confirmable. The best of your stay it was the safari. We reserve the safari with the guys from the hotel and it was absolutely amazing. They have full equiped jeeps and a lot experience in searching the animals.We enjoyed every moment. We took a full day Safari in Yala national Park and it was gorgeous. It includes breakfast, water, soft drinks, fruits, lunch and snacks. It totally deserved. Very recomendable. Thanks you!
Probably the best hotel during our holiday in Srí Lanka. Owner of hotel since the morning texted us to ensure that our stay will be fully prepared. Tuk tuk was waiting for us on bus station, we had delicious dinner, breakfast and lunch. Our trip to safari was ensured and could not have been easier. We appreciate the friendly approach of staff and the unbelivable combination of low price and quality of provided services. If you will go to Tissamaharama, go there and you will not regret.
The rooms are incredibly cozy, and the air conditioning works like a charm, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The food at this hotel is absolutely delicious. It was a highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka. They even arranged a safari for us, which was an incredible experience. There's a large lake nearby, currently brimming with water, so it's not advisable to swim due to the presence of crocodiles. However, the expansive garden offers a great place to relax and enjoy your time at the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Gaga Bees. Super friendly and welcoming hosts and one of our best dinner experiences in Sri Lanka. We even forgot a smartwatch at the hotel and they managed to return it to us although we had already moved to Ella.

Superb stay. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Has everything you need, with the pool being an added bonus. Great aircon and the rooms are spacious. We loved everything about the Blue Turtle, apart from doing the Yala safari we didn’t leave the hotel. Our room was really nice, had a lovely balcony looking out over the pool, the garden is lush and the pool spotless. It was very quiet when we were there but it was still ok. We had some lovely food and the best Sri Lankan breakfast.
We stayed in a lot of beautiful accommodations during our trip in Sri Lanka but this hotel takes the cake, it’s such an amazing place. The staff is the sweetest, every morning they clean the entire property and pool. The food is excellent, they also catered to our 3 year old who is a picky eater. Couldn’t be happier, 10 out of 10

Our favourite hotel in Sri Lanka. The food was amazing, they were very accommodating to our vegan diet. The staff went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome. We went on a safari organized by the hotel and it was perfect. Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew where to find the animals. 10/10 book this hotel.
