this was best last minute booking i ever made . The place was super clean and Spaciouse;my entire family loved the place. We stayed for two nights . The propaty is under construction i feel it has very bright future and guest gonna love the place with the future change .

We most liked that the owner is so passionate about his resort. He loved to show us around in his beautifull garden and everything in the resort is thought of and well functioning. The sister of the owner is an excellent cook and she makes a great Sri Lankan breakfast. Each day a bit different but always delicious and plentifull. Same holds for the optional dinner.
Owner also has good deals and friendly and knowledgeable friends for excursions to the temples and Sigiriya and safari. We left to see other places but actually we didn't want to leave this little paradise.

The owner and staff gave exceptional service - the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far. The pool and garden were very good and welcome in the heat. We ate dinner both nights and had breakfast and enjoyed the traditional Sri Lankan cooking.

Ruins is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is very nice. The food, the rooms are amazing. I invite all local and foreign people to come here and have fun. Located outside the city, it is a quiet and pleasant place to stay. In all respects, Ruins is a beautiful hotel located in Polonnaruwa. I am thankful to all the employees including the management for helping to make my holiday beautiful.

The site seeing of historical places were the best.
The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. We hired a vehicle during the tour, This gave us the flexibility to get around. Net time I'll try to get there in the cooler months, mid December.

Lot of ancient locations and relics.
Lot of ancient locations and relics. Can gain much information about historical Polonnaruwa era of Sri Lanka. Spread is in close vicinity and can cover all areas even without a travel guide. My favourite places were Parakrama Samudraya, museum, King Parakramabahu's castle and office, Gal Viharaya, Thiwanka Pilima geya, Vatadage, Hetadage and Sathmahal Prasadaya.
There are places to eat in Polonnaruwa new town (Very close by). We dined at NS Tomatoes where the service was good.

It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far...
It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far southern area too.... and don't forget to check out the back roads in the quadrangle group. The site is full of tourists, but almost nobody at the above mentioned places.

Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas...
Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas which are in good conditions despite of the years. The Minneriya National Park, the Dambulla cave temple and the Sigiriya Rock are also near and it makes Polonnaruwa a perfect base to visit all of them. We would strongly recommend to others.

We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale.
We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale. We got a tuk tuk into town (1500 rupees) and hired bikes for the day (1000 rupees each). We found a cycle route online and followed that, which took us to all the main sites. It was hot but we had a great time. Stop for a drink at the EKO hotel on the lake- a great spot!
It was such a remarkable stay in a house of a Sri Lankan family. The host was always willing to help with any of our requests, even when he really didn't have to.
And the dinner requires a separate appraisal - the best food in Sri Lanka so far - real homemade dishes, so tasteful, and the portions were huge, make sure to try.
Too bad we didn't have time for a safari, it would've been awesome without a doubt.

The location at the lake is really great. Beautiful calm place surrounded by the lake. Sometimes could be the elephants watched there, this time we had no luck. The staff is friendly and helpful, finally as ewerywhere on Sri Lanka. The rooms are simply equipped, but it met our expectation - it was our second visit there. You have all you need there, the kitchen is also good and tasty.
The best thing about the hotel is the location - right on the lake with its stunning sunsets and next to the ancient city - you could just walk over there to discover it! The staff is very nice (though not all of them spoke English). The rooms are very spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
The staff also helped us with the PCR tests and the transfers - thanks a lot!!
Convenient location near the clock tower in Polonnaruwa and the ancient area. The owner is very nice and helpful. I rent a bike from them. It's reasonably priced. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields. I saw a nice view from room windows and having breakfast in such an environment was particularly nice. The hotel looks new and very clean.
Hats off to Hotel Siyathma staff who made my stay more pleasant. Service was amazing!! Also room was perfectly arranged and cleaned up. I must say that bed was very comfortable too. Love the delicious breakfast and the morning view.

Nice staff. calm and the food is awesome and they seem like home cooked. Soo tasty. Family owned hotel and they are really nice to their guests and flexible too..we had a really good time in the pool it was way more than enough for us to relax. Finally got a big value for our money. Definitely come again to this lovely place.
A beautiful place in a very quiet location in an urban environment. We had all the amenities we needed. Very close to Polonnaruwa city and places to visit in Polonnaruwa. This is a perfect place for someone who wants to spend a few days relaxing.

The place has an excellent location and magnificent garden, one can relax peacefully around the nature... Quiet, tranquil and safe... Breakfast was Sri Lankan style and quite fulfilling... I would totally return to this place...
We showed up at the at 9pm and it was shut!!! It looked like it was under construction. Booking.com never advised us that the hotel was shut. We were stuck, at night, with 2 small children and nowhere to stay! Appalling!
The hotel is close to Ancient City, only 10 minutes walk. Hosts are hospitable people and can help with everything. They also can give bicycles and umbrellas. Room was clean with 2 big beds, no problems with a hot water.
The location is suitable for us cuz we only plan to visit Ancient city in Polonnaruwa. The bathroom is small and there is no amenities in the room. However, with the room prices, I'm okey with the hotel.
