The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression.
Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

We stayed in the beautifull place Luck Uyana Cabana, with very nice spice garden. They offer guided tour in the garder for free with foot massage. You can enjoy long massage and pay for it.
They offer discount for elephant ride and bath with Millenium Elephant foundation which is just next door.
Unfortunately we got ride by Tuk Tuk from the bus station and he reocmend some other - cheeper, but not so clean place for elephant bath. We did not have time to go to Pinnawala itself.

Pinnawala is an elephant orphanage with some axillary tourist services around. Keep in mind that the elephants are the priority and you get the opportunity to be there with them in the comfort of a nice hotel. Plan to arrive after 4PM if you are staying in a hotel by the river as the elephants are moving between the river and the orphanage. They came down three times during the day I was there. Fantastic.

It would have been nice to have had time to sit and have lunch watching the elephants and relaxing. There is also a range of shops to explore and I think a chance to go visit the orphanage in addition to seeing the elephants being bathed.
This is an interesting place in а Sri Lanka village, which works fine for nature lovers. We liked the cosy bungalow surrounded by nature. We enjoyed tasty Sri Lankan home food, especially dinners. The hotel owners are very friendly and take care of our needs. This place is good if you are going to visit Bo Ella Waterfall and Bible Rock (Bathalegala). We went hiking and enjoyed much. They have hot water and a well designed bathroom.
Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions.
If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you.
It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩
I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
Everything was amazing at this hotel and at such a reasonable price. The main draw of course is the elephants that bath in the river just below the hotel which is truely an amazing experience. You also have the opportunity to go back to the elephant foundation located near by to wash and bath the elephants. Amazing! Food was also great and the staff couldn’t be more friendly, what a stay!
The room is just in front of water where elephants bath and chill. Everyday they come 8;30 AM (first 6 old ones) and 10:00 AM (rest of the group). If you come on bike or car there is a nice parking. Hotel is a little bit old but still good. Checkin is 4 PM or you can pay entrance ticket to checkin early (imo not worth it since you see main attraction in front of your room in the morning)

This is easily one of the most beautiful boutique hotels I've stayed at. Recently renovated, no expense has been spared to bring the Colonial mansion back to life. The attention to detail is remarkable. All the services are extraordinary and if I ever have a special occasion in Sri Lanka it will be at the Grand Walawwa.
We were taken so well care of. The room, which was more like a small house was clean and beautifully situated with a marvelous view to fields. The staff was friendly and caring, bringing us to and forth the main hotel, seeing the elephants going to the pool etc. Wonderful place! ❤️
there is no meaning of paying credit cards. i have gifted hotel room for my friend. but on the day at the property they have asked to pay. then why should booking.con using credit card to pay at the booking. this is really unfair. disgusting service ever.
I had booked a triple room with the river balcony and it was amazing! The pool exceeded my expectations. Seeing the elephants made for a very special stay! The hotel itself is very pretty, especially the grand entrance. My room was very big.
Very nice bed and pillows, good price for this accommodation. Unfortunately, no any discount to see elephants. And if you come to this hotel by car or bike, the parking is free, don’t pay any guys over there.
The location was perfect to see the elephants. The elephants walked right by the hotel entrance. And the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely visit again!
Nice quiet place, and you vcan watch the elephant bathing from the pool of the main hotel!
Andrew was a great host, super helpful and super friendly!
Highly recommend location!
The friendly staff, private pool attached to the Honeymoon Suite, and close proximity to the Elephant Orphanage made this place extremely worth the price we spent on this.
A perfect stopover between Colombo and Kandy and beyond. Full of old world charm and the tour of the hotel was great! Staff friendly and accommodating!
