The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression.
Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

We stayed in the beautifull place Luck Uyana Cabana, with very nice spice garden. They offer guided tour in the garder for free with foot massage. You can enjoy long massage and pay for it.
They offer discount for elephant ride and bath with Millenium Elephant foundation which is just next door.
Unfortunately we got ride by Tuk Tuk from the bus station and he reocmend some other - cheeper, but not so clean place for elephant bath. We did not have time to go to Pinnawala itself.

Pinnawala is an elephant orphanage with some axillary tourist services around. Keep in mind that the elephants are the priority and you get the opportunity to be there with them in the comfort of a nice hotel. Plan to arrive after 4PM if you are staying in a hotel by the river as the elephants are moving between the river and the orphanage. They came down three times during the day I was there. Fantastic.

It would have been nice to have had time to sit and have lunch watching the elephants and relaxing. There is also a range of shops to explore and I think a chance to go visit the orphanage in addition to seeing the elephants being bathed.
Very cozy, beautiful village house surrounded by nature. Comfortable, beautiful bed, all necessary accessories. Wonderful view of banana fields, various plants. Very nice, sincere, helpful hosts. The hosts grow a lot of different fruit near the house. Everywhere is amazingly clean. Very friendly manager Andrew. Delicious breakfast in the hotel, which is near Village Pinnawala.
This village house is a refreshment for the soul!!
We recommend 100 percent!! We will come back soon.
Huge spacious rooms with an old colonial vibe. Our room and the hotel was very clean. The staff was prompt and polite. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala. Not much to do around. Limited eating options outside as well in the Kegalle market. But loved the fact that despite being so close to the main market, the property itself was so quiet and peaceful. Even managed to see a few fireflies in the night. The breakfast was good too!
I liked it a lot. When I entered they put a welcome sign on me. It has a terrace, living room, large computer room, toilet, dining room. Kasum the host is exceptional, he picked me up and took me to the station, he took me to the Elephant Orphanage and other places. He is an unbeatable tour guide. In fact I work 10 years in airlines. Totally recommended. One 10 in everything. My experience with elephants is amazing.
Location. As in the pictutes! Marvelous just next to The elephant bathing place but Please mind that elephants are not treated well in these places (not related with hotel itself (!)) so Please consider carefully if you want to visit one of these „Orphanages” in Pinnawala and support this business with your money- after researching we gave up on that idea. Hotel Staff is also very helpful and nice ;)
Nice view from the balcony and from the terrace where swimming pool and dining areas are located.
Elephants coming close to the hotel so one can safely touch them.
Staff were so kind and let us do late check out, so we could enjoy elephants bathing even afternoon.
Usually elephants come around 9 am and stay there until noon, then another group comes around 1-2 pm and hangs there until 4 o'clock.
Excellent place, spacious rooms, with a lot of vegetation. Anushka is very kind, as is his family. He is a very good guide, he knows a lot about his country and its tourist attractions.
If you have any questions, I recommend that you ask anything, he will help you.
It was an incredible day in their cottage and the typical Sri Lanka breakfast was amazing 🤩🤩
I will back , I’m sure 🫶🏻☺️
It was a great stay. They upgraded our room to their chalet which was so spacious and comfortable. We could use the other hotel near Peacock for restaurant and pool and it had the best view of elephants in the river. They offered free drive between hotels making it very very easy to use facilities. Mr Andrew was deeply kind and helpful and we're thankful for the service.
Location is very convenient to visit the Elephant orphanage & zoo. They have a hotel downstairs. Can take food from there. There are lots of closerby places for food as well. Room is good. Spacious, Clean with basic amenities & hot water & AC. Enough parking space front. Prices are reasonable. Ideal for a night stay during Pinnawala visit
For the price point, this is the best place to stay if you're planning to visit Pinnawala. If you want to see the elephants walking through the town, get a balcony room or just sit by the eating area. You also have access to the river area where the elephants bathe, without having to pay for the orphanage fee.
The location was perfect to see the elephants. The elephants walked right by the hotel entrance. And the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely visit again!
The friendly staff, private pool attached to the Honeymoon Suite, and close proximity to the Elephant Orphanage made this place extremely worth the price we spent on this.
The hotel offers a great view from the restaurant terrace. Guests can enjoy watching the elephants bathe in the morning. Additionally, the swimming pool is nice.
Very kind staff. Couldn't be closer to the elephant orphanage (across the street), which meant I saw the daily walks to the river. Quiet and restful stay.
A perfect stopover between Colombo and Kandy and beyond. Full of old world charm and the tour of the hotel was great! Staff friendly and accommodating!
