What a absolute gem of a place hidden in the Jungle, the building is elegant and and as soon as you arrive you are met by the most professional, smiling, warm hosts we have had on our entire trip.
Upon arriving we felt totally relaxed as our hosts arrived with umbrellas and took our luggage, when inside the property we were given a warm towel and our stay was explained to us by Eranda, his warm and kind demeanour made us feel like we were at home. The property only has 2 rooms in the main house and this means you are very very well looked after.
Our main host was Charminder who was an absolute delight to have met, he was so professional, caring and nothing was too much for him, he makes amazing speciality cocktails and accommodated our ask for a takeaway lunch as we were hiking the next day, this came in a sustainable box and was freshly cooked food, that was still warm when we ate it some 5 hours later.
Eranda knows everything about wildlife, in particular snakes and birds, on our hike we encountered 2 snakes and with photos Eranda explained that both were not poisonous and then went on to teach us what features poisonous snakes have so we left having learnt potentially life saving information.
I can not recommend The Capoe House and the team enough, this was our best stay of our trip and would return in a heartbeat.
Elevated 5782 feet above sea level within the mountains of Ambewela, Jetwing Warwick Gardens. Surrounded by charming farm lands, its rooms come with balconies and butler services.

A really lovely location. The room was great, it had everything you'd need. There was a games room in the loft conversion with a pool table which was fun. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful in arranging tours and transport. Also amazing food! Highly recommend!
Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.
Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again.
Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish.
We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.

The staff were excellent, super friendly and helpful with information and transport. It is conveniently located near Ohiya station and local bus stop. Owner's brother was there to collect us off the train and take us to guesthouse. Not far to Horton Plains or the wonderful Devil's Staircase walk. Home cooked meals were delicious. Very small village ( only 120 people ) if you want to get a feel for local village life in Sri Lanka.
New attractive rooms, everything was very clean. View is very beautiful. Everybody is very friendly and dinner was delicious. They cooked for us although there was power cut. Hotel is easy to reach by walk from Ohiya train station. Perfect starting point to World‘s end, owner arranged to bring us there.
It was the best accommodation in Sri Lanka! Such a lovely family ❤️ We spent Christmas day there and it was absolutely awesome. They made a christmas tree for us and we got perfect meal every day. And the pancakes….omg! 🤩We felt at home there. Thank you for everything!
