My two-night stay at Forest Cyniciam Homestay in Ohiya was nothing short of exceptional. Mahinda and his wife embody true hospitality, making you feel like family from the moment you arrive.
Conveniently located just a 20-minute ride from Horton Plains, the homestay serves as an ideal base for exploring the area. Mahinda's expertise in planning trails to the breathtaking World's End ensures you make the most of your visit with perfect timing.
The homestay's charming garden attracts a variety of birds, making it a paradise for bird watchers. Even if Mahinda's wife is absent for a night, her absence is hardly felt as Mahinda expertly prepares delicious meals that leave you fully satisfied.
This experience truly reflects the genuine hospitality of Sri Lanka. I'm immensely grateful for the wonderful stay and eagerly look forward to returning soon. Thank you Mahinda and family for your exceptional care and attention to detail.

Lovely property, verily simple for the price but nice location if you want to go to Horton Plains. But close to nothing else around. So best for families in order to make the journey a bit cheaper.
The host can cook food for you which is super delicious!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Cape House, and it was a truly fantastic experience. The service was exceptional, and our stay was nothing short of perfect.
A special mention must go to the manager, Eranda. He is one of the kindest and most inventive managers I’ve ever encountered at a hotel. His attention to detail and genuine care for guests made our stay incredibly enjoyable. He was especially wonderful with my son, making him feel welcome and special throughout our visit.
I highly recommend the Cape House to anyone looking for a remarkable place to stay. The combination of outstanding service, comfortable accommodations, and Eranda’s exceptional management truly sets this place apart. Eranda deserves a massive raise for his dedication and the wonderful experience he provides to guests.
Thank you, Cape House, for an unforgettable stay. We will definitely be returning!

The service was amazing! Samantha is super kind and a very good cook :)
Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.
Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again.
Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish.
We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.
This stay is very rustic, in a good kind of way. The host where very simple people, always kind and smiling. They prepared us tea all the time because it is very cold in Ohiya and it was great. We came late because we had problems with transfer, but they still prepared us a full and tasty dinner. We arranged transfer to Horton's Plains through the hosts and they prepared us breakfast for our morning ride. There was hot water but no heating. This is a great place to stay, just don't forget to bring warm clothing.
Very nice guesthouse to stay in Ohiya. It's located close to Horton Plains National Park.Transport to the park can be arranged by the guesthouse. Large rooms with bathrooms and common garden. The staff is veeeeery friendly and if you need to solve any issue, it is solved quickly. Very friendly boss, always ready to help. The food served in the guesthouse is amazing, one of the best we tried in Sri Lanka. If you order the dinner be prepared for huge portions! Perfect place to stay near Horton Plains!!
Prakash and other staff members were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They took care of us very well. What is even more impressive was the food made by Chef Prakash. We are originally from Sri Lanka, and we have had plenty of Sri Lankan food, including home cooked food. But the Rice and curries dinner we had here was unique and the best we ever had. We had a great mountain view from the room and balcony, and were able to enjoy the Sunrise directly from the room.
Arriving in the village we didn’t know what to expect, but it definitely turned out to be one of the best stays in Sri Lanka. Our plan was to visit Horton Nationalpark and the family organised us transport and helped with the planing. They looked after us the whole time and provided us with tea and crackers. Not to forget, the food was insane and we loved being in such good company:)) I would highly recommend staying here, when you are planing to visit Horton Plains!!!
The location and the room was ideal for the stay.. had the warmest welcome and the staff was equally friendly and attentive… had a hearty breakfast and the food was also tasty.. clean and spacious rooms and washrooms.. could witness the sunrise while staying in the room… it was a pleasure staying for two nights on b&b basis..
Breakfast was good as was their fried chicken for dinner, came sizzling on a platter. Staff incredibly helpful. Helped me arrange a jeep transfer for me and my bicycle at very little notice. Great views of the valley and mountains. Good size rooms, very clean.
The location is 300mtrs from the Ohiya railway station. The building is old but clean. The beds were exceptionally comfy. The guesthouse keeper Chanaka is very friendly and was very helpful. Also he's a fantastic cook. 100% value for money.
Nice hotel. Basic room, but the owners were really friendly and good. They made me a big dinner, arranged a Tuk Tuk to get to World’s End and gave me a packed lunch. Ohiya is also a nice location. Recommended if you’re there.
Great place to stay in Ohiya. Close to Horton plains.
Incredible views. Very calm place.
Friendly people. Nice meals.
I can recommend to stay st least 2 nights to take advantage of the great hikes in the area.
Lovely hotel located just a short walk from Ohiya railway station. Perfect for visiting Horton Plains. The room was very spacious and the views were one of the best we've had for a stay in Sri Lanka.
the view was breathtaking, sunset and sunrise were very beautiful
the owner has very good English and is a pleasant person to talk with
location is very close to Horton Plains and Devil’s staircase
When I ask before putting the booking that can we reach the hotel by a car they said yes
But actually you can reach the hotel 2KM before the hotel
The walk path is also very bad
So i didn’t go
I’m very happy that I decided to stay at this homestay. The owners are extremely nice and supportive, the place feels like home and I think it’s the best place to stay in Ohiya :)
Lovely location with beautiful view and drive. Close to Horton plains. The family was very friendly and made you feel like home. Food was tasty and was the best.
