When we arrived we got warm towels to refresh ourselfs. This was very nice. The manager and staff was very helpful and and got us a pot of tee while bringing our bags to our room. We took the (3 course) dinner, which was tasty.
It is indeed a villa and very big. For us it maybe felt even a bit to big. If you look for a nice place with an idyllic view in the valley, definitely come here.

The comfortable chalets away from the hustle of Ella and Bandarawela are tucked away in a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers. The owner arranged an excellent tour on our way to Ella rock with an open 4X4 vehicle during which we experienced a most beautiful forest with eucalyptus trees ever seen, and thereafter the historical train and the 9 arches bridge and a scenic drive through the legendary Lipton thee estate with a visit to the authentic production hall. Warmly recommended.

My trip to Bandarawela was a memorable experience, combining the town's quaint charm, stunning natural landscapes, and the welcoming atmosphere of the local community. The food in Bandarawela offers a delightful mix of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and fresh local produce. Highlights include spicy curries, coconut-based dishes, and an array of tropical fruits, all reflecting the region's rich culinary heritage.

Bandarawela is a busy, bustling town with all the major banks and a couple of Food City stores as well as many other shops and kadas.
Just by the post office is the Bandarawela Hotel which is quiet and away from all the town bustle so ideal for a pit stop.
Bandarawela is a good alternative to staying in Ella as it is less touristy but still in easy reach if you want to visit Ella. Out of the city the air is cool and fresh and the hills provide a respite for the weary traveller.
From Bandarawela station you can take the train to Nanu Oya - for Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy or Hatton and indeed Colombo.
We really loved the location, an amazing peaceful chalet in the middle of the nature. Everything was perfect in every details, from the room to the staff. they prepare everything homemade, the food was delicious and typical of Sri lanka with the chance of having more international dishes. The staff was very kind and thoughtful for each of our requests. They arranged the tea plantation tour and all the tourist attractions we wanted to visit. It was very sad to leave this paradise that unfortunately we lived for just one night.
This is a little gem just a few minutes away from Bandarawela town. The staff and owners Lalith and Nirupa are exceptional hosts and were committed to comfort of us. The house is very homely and felt like our own home. Nirupas cooking was amazing, the milk rice was a die for. While the rooms are not luxurious, they feel like a home. The blankets were very nice. Highly recommend for a family or group to have a night out. You can catch the beautiful sunrise from the room itself.
One of my favourite hotels in the world. Where else would you be welcomed with a cup of cinnamon tea and a plate of biscuits? Staying here really does take you back to the British Colonial era, whether the original tea planters’ club or the wartime nursing home for recovering soldiers. Staff are long-serving and exceptionally friendly and the restaurant does a very good set menu dinner. A real gem which somehow continues to offer affordable rates.
Shanthi Homestay provides a delightful accommodation experience. Its strategic proximity to the town ensures both convenience and tranquility. The serene ambiance, coupled with a charming verandah, offers an ideal setting for children to play. The rooms boast a blend of cleanliness and luxury, making it a suitable recommendation for families and large tourist groups alike.
We booked two rooms at Grand Jumbo hotel for our family. It was an amazing place with a nice view. Staff was very friendly. We took dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and both were really good. Rooms and washrooms were clean and neat. Enviorenment is calm and beautiful. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for accommodation near bandarawela area
Initially, I was skeptical when I arrived at the hotel at first because I had read a negative comment on Booking.com. But I did not experience any sort of discomfort. In contrast, the place was nice, giving a homely feeling. The food was good, room was nice and clean, and surroundings were pretty calm. Can highly recommend.
Although the Hotel was not at fault, the power cuts during my stay made my stay somewhat uncomfortable. The generator was short of fuel. The restaurant and its staff were excellent
Although the hotel is old, I find the stay very pleasant
Hotel was also very accommodating for letting me leave a day early
The cottages were spacey and really peaceful. The view specially was breath taking , you wouldn't want to miss a sunrise from there.
The staff and the owner was very friendly and fluent in English. it was easy to communicate and they helped us arrange transportation.
10/10 I would recommend
Location very convenient to Ella Ravana Falls
Nice view from the rooms & garden full of flowers
Very clean & parking safe parking facilities inside the building. So no worries
Very close to bandarawela town & many locations
No disturbances @ all. You can relax peacefully
This was one of the most beautiful places I have stayed at in a long while. Everything about the place was simply sublime. The views from the hotel are to die for, the service was excellent and the staff were some of the most gracious and helpful people you'll ever meet.
Location was actually amazing and had a really great experience, main thing is scenery that was really amazing, staff also really amazing highly recommended this place to spend your vacation when you visit Sri lanka.
The rooms are clean & spacious. Friendly staff with great service. There was not a huge spread of food but the food was delicious. Walking distance of Bandarawela town. Highly recommended.
Beautifull location with mountaion view. Nice balcony. Compotable bed room with hot shower. Lowest price in bandarawela. Near the cargills food city and resturent. Value for money.....
Breakfast not included and for $10 US was infinitely bland and poorer in quality and quantity than what you would get at any family run guest house in Sri Lanka.
