When we arrived we got warm towels to refresh ourselfs. This was very nice. The manager and staff was very helpful and and got us a pot of tee while bringing our bags to our room. We took the (3 course) dinner, which was tasty.
It is indeed a villa and very big. For us it maybe felt even a bit to big. If you look for a nice place with an idyllic view in the valley, definitely come here.

The comfortable chalets away from the hustle of Ella and Bandarawela are tucked away in a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers. The owner arranged an excellent tour on our way to Ella rock with an open 4X4 vehicle during which we experienced a most beautiful forest with eucalyptus trees ever seen, and thereafter the historical train and the 9 arches bridge and a scenic drive through the legendary Lipton thee estate with a visit to the authentic production hall. Warmly recommended.

The first thing that stood out was the beautiful view of the mountains from the room balcony. The balcony and full-length windows face east so the sun rises right across and the morning light fills the room (but there are blackout curtains too). The balcony is great to sit and enjoy the view, especially mornings and evenings.
The room itself is spacious, the bed is big and comfortable.
We also ate all our meals at Roseland itself and they have a variety of Sri Lankan and western dishes. We ate only Sri Lankan food and all our meals were delicious and like simple home-cooked Sri Lankan food - definitely a plus!
Rajiv (the owner) and his wife were very responsive on WhatsApp to our questions. Rajiv and his staff helped us decide on some of the hikes that would suit our preferences and also organized transport. One of the staff familiar with the routes also accompanied us as a guide. The cost was very reasonable too.
Roseland is a tea and coffee estate and it was interesting to see their tea and coffee producing process as well as do a tasting of their coffee and different teas - we ended up buying quite a few of them too! They have small factory/production section near the entrance to the property as well and it was nice to smell the wafting fragrance of the teas during our post-dinner walks.
Rajiv was very kind in helping us get some money changed without going to the market, and also having our train tickets collected from the train station without us having to go there (train tickets booked online still have to be collected in person prior to traveling), which was a big help and a time saver.
Overall it was a very calm and relaxing environment.
We stayed there for 4 nights and would love to go back!

Bandarawela is a busy, bustling town with all the major banks and a couple of Food City stores as well as many other shops and kadas.
Just by the post office is the Bandarawela Hotel which is quiet and away from all the town bustle so ideal for a pit stop.
Bandarawela is a good alternative to staying in Ella as it is less touristy but still in easy reach if you want to visit Ella. Out of the city the air is cool and fresh and the hills provide a respite for the weary traveller.
From Bandarawela station you can take the train to Nanu Oya - for Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy or Hatton and indeed Colombo.
This is a little gem just a few minutes away from Bandarawela town. The staff and owners Lalith and Nirupa are exceptional hosts and were committed to comfort of us. The house is very homely and felt like our own home. Nirupas cooking was amazing, the milk rice was a die for. While the rooms are not luxurious, they feel like a home. The blankets were very nice. Highly recommend for a family or group to have a night out. You can catch the beautiful sunrise from the room itself.
One of my favourite hotels in the world. Where else would you be welcomed with a cup of cinnamon tea and a plate of biscuits? Staying here really does take you back to the British Colonial era, whether the original tea planters’ club or the wartime nursing home for recovering soldiers. Staff are long-serving and exceptionally friendly and the restaurant does a very good set menu dinner. A real gem which somehow continues to offer affordable rates.

Initially, I was skeptical when I arrived at the hotel at first because I had read a negative comment on Booking.com. But I did not experience any sort of discomfort. In contrast, the place was nice, giving a homely feeling. The food was good, room was nice and clean, and surroundings were pretty calm. Can highly recommend.
Although the Hotel was not at fault, the power cuts during my stay made my stay somewhat uncomfortable. The generator was short of fuel. The restaurant and its staff were excellent

Location was actually amazing and had a really great experience, main thing is scenery that was really amazing, staff also really amazing highly recommended this place to spend your vacation when you visit Sri lanka.
